Gladiator?

Really?

I must have missed something.....

You and I both, brother. The movie is about Honor, something the Socialist douchewaffles have no concept of. I see they listed Braveheart as well - a movie celebrating the fight for Freedom against oppression. Not exactly what I think of as a Socialist movie.

Edit: These cats have a discussion board. These people are total loons!

What about Antz? Why is that on the list. I seen it only once years ago, but from what I remember it was about a Ant forgoing his "social responsibility" and perusing his own values.

Probably something with taking down the ruling class.

I'm sure they don't have the movie "The Lives of Others" on their list.

It really ticks me off to see people who refuse to learn from history, when history shows something to be horrific and deadly in practice. It's really beneath contempt.

I have to admit to being fascinated by young socialists.

Having discovered Ayn Rand & Objectivism at a relatively early age I never understood the collectivist phase that so many young people go through.

Strangely despite being very vocal about my views many of my regulars (I own a bar) lean heavily towards the left.

I find by debating them without berating them that their views slowly change. In fact I've recently done promotions like "bring in a copy of Atlas Shrugged get a free shot" "quote Ayn Rand get a free beer" type things.

The kids like me enough I guess that many of them actually start reading these things and getting them.

In large part, I blame the Republicans for this, for letting the religious right hijack their agenda.

Many kids start off rejecting the religion, hatred of gays, anti-choice on abortion and such that Republicans represent to them and the lefties are only too happy to snap them up.

Many of them can be salvaged and I think it is our interest to do so.

While laughing at their silliness behind their backs of course. :D

Dammit, I knew those tigers were commies. Why else would they turn on the Emperor's people?

(By the way, the serious answer would be that in their stupid minds, these morons think that Maximus fighting the Emperor is the same as their struggle against Imperialism. It is just that simple-minded.)

The other movies are also about fighting tyranny, and these little douches do tend to see themselves as Che Guevara's slightly retarded clones. Except they have the time and resources to sit around and chat about it, on account of their stupid parents satisfying their every whim with the help of those Capitalist bank accounts.

Whoa! Free beer for a Ayn Rand quote!?!? Where is this bar? I assume by PDX you mean Portland?

EXACTLY!!! Most young people new to politics are rejecting the social aspects of "conservatism," and aren't thinking about the fiscal issues as much as the "conservative's" consistent assault on civil liberties. As the youth get older, and having enough of their earnings stolen, they begin to notice the fiscal aspects of conservatism, and are placed squarely on a moral dilemma. Many people have much more financial responsibilities as they get older, and are then willing to "compromise" their aspirations of "social freedom" for "fiscal freedom." What is so sad is that we are almost forced to make such a choice.

Please tell me that your bar is called "Atlas Chugged."

I was one of these youths. It is not "cool" to be conservative in any way, shape, or form.

Im glad I have read what i have read when i read it, before it was too late for reform!
