Prelude to civil war

Glenn Beck made a very good point in one of his radio shows though when he told his listeners not to do anything extreme. He said that they should arm themselves, or do anything that might be viewed as violent because the moment that happens everyone loses. It scares me to think how right he is though. All it would take is someting like two people getting in a fight and one of them pulling a knife, or someone shouting death threats at Obama to make this issue explode.

Things are definitely getting interesting. I have had the words "Civil War" in the back of my head for some time now. The political game since the '08 election has delved its deepest into character assassination and mindless slander as its ever been, but its no longer restricted to candidate v. candidate; the democrats have successfully created an "us" and "them". I think it's been this way for quite some time, but this immoral egoism that our "ruling class" has exhibited has really reinforced a thick black line. If im not mistaken, the original civil war was fought over the restrictive economic policies the feds were pushing and states rights, 2 issues strongly prevalent in today's debates.

I also think that it has a lot to do with the fact that these people have had to put up with 8 years of "Bush is Hitler". The tides have turned and their getting a bit of "revenge". Now that the left's Idol is being criticized they are being whiny brats about it.

As far as the town hall outbursts go, i sadly have to agree with the congresscritters; The shouting and disruption isn't doing us any good. I am aware that most constituents can and do present a rational argument against socialized medicine, but the Media isn't going to say anything about that.

The problem is that you cant have a rational conversation with irrational people. They dodge questions and allude to fallacy and disinformation to avert the notion that they have no idea what they are talking about, and even if they did they wouldn't have the intellect to defend it. If they did have the intellect to defend it they would probably see it for what it is and vote it down.

THIS is not the right way to support individual rights.

Agreed. The more I see of these protests, the more reason is provided for me not to be a part of them. There is anger coming from the advocates of both sides of the issue, and these advocates have a habit to break down and argue from intimidation once they don't get their way. Somebody going to a town hall meeting for the sake of interrupting it is going to piss people off; when irrational angry groups or people, who are opposed to each other, get together it shouldn't be surprising if a little intimidation or violence occurs.

Here's a reasonable guy to some extent, who did a very stupid thing to make himself look like a nut.

Matthews doesn't have to do something stupid to make himself look like a nut. :P

Oh, you mean the guy who was exercising his Second Amendment right, that even the White House came out and supported as having done nothing other than exercise his Second Amendment right? This was one the "Constitutional Scholar" got right, and finding people on the LEFT of the White House when it comes to the Second Amendment would be kinda funny anywhere else. Here it's a bit frightening.

Read this: http://www.theobjectivestandard.com/issues...care.asp#_edn19

There is a health care crisis, but it is not caused by the free market. It is the result of almost a century of government intervention in and regulation of health insurance and medicine.

Of course, the solution that all the Statists are trying to force feed us is "we need more government regulation." Universal health-care will be the death knell of the private health insurance market and of even semi-affordable, reliable health care. I can only hope that there are enough citizens and members of the government who are so disgusted by this that they'll do everything they can to stop it. Thank God we have people like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Rick Santelli.

Frankly, I'm really surprised by the sudden uprising of people against Obama and his plans. I had no idea there were still that many true Americans left in America.

Oh, and if Obama passes all of this Socialist BS - Socialist health care, "diversity czar," etc., then I hope things DO get violent, because that may be the only way we can stop this march of Communism on the US. Did you listen to Glenn Beck's show tonight about the diversity czar? That is very, very frightening stuff. To think, Vladimir Putin had a Randian economist advising him, now the US President has a self-avowed Communist advising him. Did we win the Cold War?
