SapereAude
Not having the ability to watch TV at home (no reception, unwilling to pay for cable) I finally got to see the ending of Battlestar Gallactica on DVD. Usually I don't enjoy entertainment based in collectivist societies but I really couldn't help loving the reboot of this show. Perhaps in denial I have been justifying to myself that if every remaining human being were forced to live in a couple ships that no one could claim to own there really couldn't be the kind of individualism that I prefer in my entertainment. Especially enjoyable for me was the character of Adama. Anyone else like this show? Or hate it based on its collectivism & occasional apparent mysticism? SapereAude
Sorry if this seems redundant.. the other thread seemed just to be about the ending of BG so I thought doing a different post to discuss the whole series would be ok.. The show is one giant "lifeboat scenario". Some degree of collectivism would be expected under the circumstances, even in an objectivist society.
