deedlebee
Good luck learning Japanese! ... I don't think there is a better way of understanding the inscrutable Japanese than by learning their language. Good point There is something about the culture and history I like quite a bit (but won't attempt to explain here) and the language is a challenge I don't want to miss. I'm enjoying little moments of "oh! I get it!" as I progress. As for Houston, the worst thing about it is the weather. My commute is unusual because of my personal situation. I've had jobs that were less than 10 minutes away in the past ;> Dallas is just as nice (though I'm not sure their arts/theater districts are as large, and definitely not their medical centers). So far, there isn't a major city in Texas that I've visited that I have not liked. (I've not been to El Paso.) And hello !
oldsalt
(I've not been to El Paso.) You haven't missed much. I don't know much about the place, except that it smells to high cow heaven! That's enough to turn me off, no matter that it's "the smell of money," as I had it explained to me.
