aequalsa
74% of the women in the People's State of England believe that the 52 weeks of maternity leave(39 paid weeks) that mothers get should be extended to all women....Curiously, there are no demands to give time off for men. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/624...urvey-says.html
Seanjos
The "people's state of England" ? You realise of course that's not it's actual name, so perhaps a look at the world economic freedom index ? Almost no difference to today's USA, so do we now call that a people's state ? Absolutely, man. Just a joking reference to Atlas shrugged. If you look back through any of my previous posts you'll be hard pressed to find glowing praise of the US, though I will contend that you guys started this socialist/mixed economy crap. We're just following suit(like we usually do culturally) so we're not the "only industrialized nation to not give poor people X, Y, and Z," like most of Europe already does. You have to admit this is a horrendous policy. The women are not required to return to their jobs and employers are required to pay them for 39 weeks, give them 52 weeks off, and keep their position open for that entire year. It's sheer lunacy. Economic suicide really. It's expressly anti-business and worse it's actually self-defeating in regard to its goals, since I can't think of a better way to discourage a business from ever hiring a woman in the first place. I know I wouldn't under those conditions unless she was at least twice as productive as the best male applicant.
