Apparently, the US State Department has launched a campaign to spread propaganda promote democracy on Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter.

What do you think democracy is? In 140 characters or less, tweet your personal definition of democracy. Use the hash tag, “#democracyis” and share your thoughts with the Democracy Video Challenge community! "


(Jan. 7) -- Think you can define the meaning of democracy in 140 characters or less? If so, The U.S. State Department may want to give you a new camcorder.

As part of a global effort to promote an international dialogue about the value of democracy through new forms of technology, the department is opening a two-week contest at 5:30 p.m. ET today. Those with Twitter accounts are encouraged to type a brief, personal definition of what best defines democracy and identify the post using the category #democracyis.


The Challenge

Create a video short that completes the phrase "Democracy is…"

The Prize

An all-expense-paid trip to Washington, New York and Hollywood to attend gala screenings of the winning videos, gain exposure to the U.S. film and television industry and meet with creative talent, democracy advocates and government leaders.


Today, the State Department says, it's launching a Twitter contest to "tweet what you think democracy is in 140 characters or less." The person who gets the most "unique re-tweets" will receive a Flip Video HD Camcorder. The counting starts at 5:30 p.m. ET and ends on Jan. 21 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Hehe, I like some of the responses:

"Democracy is three wolves and one sheep deciding what to eat for dinner."

"Democracy is a word that does not appear in the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution or the constitutions of any of our 50 states."

And it's more than that they don't even know that the U.S. is actually republic they all use the term "democracy" and purposely use it as a floating abstraction that they can't accurately define. Hence, this silly contest.

People are choosing government and they have responsibility but Democracy will not long lasting and government have to power to maintain and have to understand the different work according to their power.Democracy provide good representation and more freedoms for their citizens than others.
