CastleBravo
So, you'd rather see this Republic, which, incidentally, Ms. Rand so loved and considered the greatest nation on earth, fail, rather than preserve it short term and improve it as a long term goal? Talk about a weak argument. "To save the patient, we must kill him!" How, exactly, do you gather that from my comment? When did I say I wanted to see it fail? Both modern liberalism and Christian conservatism are a cancer that is killing this republic. Supporting either, regardless of how long it may take to deal a killing blow, is still support for ideological jokes. I want to see the United States preserve its status as an island for the individual in a world of collectivists. I want to see the ideas that have eaten away at our foundation destroyed. Voting republican is preserving nothing but the notion that it is an adequate ideology, and in my mind that is a far greater crime than not voting at all. Talk about a weak argument. "To save the patient, we must kill him!" You assume that voting republican is somehow a short-term preservation. Honestly speaking (and probably being a bit more base than is customary for these forums), Palin is a moron, and having her running around waving the capitalism flag while doing the exact opposite of well....anything capitalist would be incredibly problematic in the long term (look at the legacy of Bush jr). At this stage, if I'm choosing the lesser of two evils, I'm more inclined to vote for the honest socialist rather than the socialist who masquerades as a bible thumping capitalist. Maximus
How, exactly, do you gather that from my comment? When did I say I wanted to see it fail? This seems to imply that: I'd much rather get this over with as soon as possible. Both modern liberalism and Christian conservatism are a cancer that is killing this republic. Supporting either, regardless of how long it may take to deal a killing blow, is still support for ideological jokes. Agreed, but I'm not talking about supporting Christian conservatism, but changing the direction of the Republican party to a right's respecting, pro-capitalist party. It would be easier to change an existing party than to start from scratch as a third party, which really has no chance of gaining any sort of political power in time to help combat our slide into European style socialism. I want to see the United States preserve its status as an island for the individual in a world of collectivists. I want to see the ideas that have eaten away at our foundation destroyed. Again, agreed, that's what I have been saying. Voting republican is preserving nothing but the notion that it is an adequate ideology, and in my mind that is a far greater crime than not voting at all. Not if the ideology of the party is changed. Not voting at all is accomplishing precisely nothing.

I'm not advocating for Palin. I'd also not advise voting for an "honest" Socialist, if any such animal exists.
