Brian Gates
Suppose the cameras were rolling for some televised event and Obama extended his hand to you. You could shake it, or you could publically snub him, leaving a media circus in your wake. What would you do? khaight
I'd snub him. I have no desire to treat him (or other politicians of his ilk) as though they are civilized men, when they clearly are not. That said, I'd be polite about it -- not because I think I have an obligation to him, but because I have an obligation to myself.
Geoff
Obama doesn't shake hands, he "fist bumps." He fists many things. His supporters, his wife, America. Needless to say I feel as though I've already experienced the "fist." I've had my fill.. I would never willfully consent to being "fisted" by him. A miserable life it must be to have the media actively against you.
gnomercee
Regardless of how I feel about his policies I do not believe in disrespecting anyone, and by publicly ignoring his handshake shows a sign of disrespect in my opinion. I would shake his hand but voice my opinions if asked.
SapereAude
I would not shake the hand of such a creature.
khaight
Regardless of how I feel about his policies I do not believe in disrespecting anyone, and by publicly ignoring his handshake shows a sign of disrespect in my opinion. This treats politeness as an intrinsic value regardless of context. It isn't. There's an old saying that a gentleman is someone who never gives offense unintentionally -- acknowledging implicitly that sometimes treating someone rudely is the correct thing to do. Putting the point bluntly, I do not respect Obama. I don't think he respects me either. So why should I pretend otherwise?

Fenriz
Yes, I would shake his hand only because I would want to show respect for the elected office he holds, not necessarily for the man himself.
D'kian
I would. As penance for not avoiding an event where shaking his hand is a possibility. Also if I were accepting his surrender, naturally

Black Wolf
This assumes that Obama shakes hands. Obama would more than likely juts bow to people. No, I wouldn't shake his hand. There is no moral obligation to shake someone's hand.
Black Wolf
I would never willfully consent to being "fisted" by him. I would hope not. I'm taking this out of context because it's completely awesome.
