Governments do not always recognise the rights of public safety officers (police, firemen, EMTs) to engage in collective bargaining, a right which is otherwise recognized in the US, and would be recognized in any capitalist society. The bill would require governments to partially recognize this right; the petition opposes that bill. *(Partially recognize, since the right to strike that otherwise exists and would exist in a free labor market is not recognized through this bill).
