refuge2012
Hi, all. I am new here. I came to this group because I am creating a peaceful, non-religious based, non-judgmental community here in NM and I am so disillusioned by other groups out there who accuse me of "advertising" because I offer to have people join me. And worse than that, I don't give it away for free! Value for Value? "Heavens, no!" So, based on my limited understanding of Objectivism based on Atlas Shrugged, I figured this group would be intelligent enough and tolerant enough that I can discuss my ideas and perhaps find others of like mind. Please tell me if I am wrong! LOL Peace to all, Shayna placeofrefuge2012.com
Rudmer
You're in the wrong place if you expect "non-judgmental" responses. Not judging means not using ones mind, which is (if anything is) the "cardinal sin" of Objectivism. As Ayn Rand said: The precept: “Judge not, that ye be not judged” . . . is an abdication of moral responsibility: it is a moral blank check one gives to others in exchange for a moral blank check one expects for oneself. There is no escape from the fact that men have to make choices; so long as men have to make choices, there is no escape from moral values; so long as moral values are at stake, no moral neutrality is possible. To abstain from condemning a torturer, is to become an accessory to the torture and murder of his victims. The moral principle to adopt in this issue, is: “Judge, and be prepared to be judged.” Source: http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/moral_judgment.html
