volco
Wow, I didn't think about that, thanks. It kind of explains why there were laws against drug addicts under Reagan. So you can have democratic society similar to free market fascism in which actions of unemployed that usually precede revolution will become crimes with very long prison sentences. You can't have your cake and eat it too. When and where Free Speech became a given, something you take for granted, the power structure comes up with new ways of controlling the population: Censorship means the state or church controls what comes out of your mouth. Drug-Laws in place means that the state or church controls what goes INTO your mouth. Most countries are Corporativist (or Fascist if you want to use that term), but both the States 1) became freer first and 2) enacted later along with a lot of anti-biz legislation harsh Worldwide Drug laws which inaugurated a new world order of mouth control. CapitalistSwine
That is a very accurate depiction of reality. Being poor and unemployed is not directly a crime, but drug addiction is, all the pieces fit together very well. That "First country" you describe is the US o' A. Most Objectivists claim we don't live in a true Free Market, nor in Socialism, so basically agree that we live under some sort of Corporatism. Hence, but by the thread's title, I don't see why this post should be taken as inflammatory. Because there is no such thing as free market fascism, nor is it a proper replacement for the term Corporatism. And no, drug addiction is not a crime. Something being immoral does not make it a legal crime. Singapore is a very unique country, particularly due to its history, and I don't think that labeling them as such is appropriate either. People need to understand what the definition of fascism is and stop misapplying it. There are a ton of different terms to describe different variations of society for a reason. There is also the wonderful aspect of the human language in which you put "Neo-" infront of something and it may end up being a more appropriate use of the term as a result.
