There’s been a lot of spirited online rebellion in the last couple of days in reaction to Obama for America’s “Attack Watch” campaign. In typical American fashion, people are reacting to Obama’s announcement of a new criticism watchdog, replete with web site, by going out of their way to criticize and make fun of our President. Obama Launches ‘Attack Watch’ Website A sinister new page has appeared on Barack Obama’s website, featuring a form that invites the public to report “attacks” on the president. The vigilant are given the opportunity to provide the “content of [an] attack or link” and then choose from a drop-down list of sources, which seems to be mostly synonyms for what was previously called the “free press.” “Attacks” can ostensibly come in the form of TV interviews, public statements, forwarded e-mails, rumors, TV ads, video ads, robo-calls, websites, and blogs. Obama Administration Launches Online Thought Police: “Attack Watch” Are your friends and neighbors disseminating attacks or misinformation about the Obama Administration? Well, citizen, now you have a place to report those poor souls to the Bureau of Correct Thought—AKA, #AttackWatch or, on Twitter, @AttackWatch… or on the web at www.AttackWatch.com. It's also become a new punching bag for conservatives, who are having no end of fun taking over the initiative's official #attackwatch hashtag.
