Darrell Cody
I would like to start a discussion of the state of life positiveness in movies that are released. Movies, the world's most popular art form, are doing a lot to express ideas. For starter's - The Time Traveler's Wife, a romantic movie about a man's heroic behavior struggling with illness. Meet The Robinson's - an animated DIsney movie in praise of the thinker/inventor. Post your own ideas and comments!
Hairnet
I can't say I have seen any really good movies that were positive. However any super heroe movie will typically be positive, and there are lots of those.
Zoid
I can't say I have seen any really good movies that were positive. Really? Off the top of my head, I came up with Up Ratatouille The Incredibles The three Toy Story movies The Avengers The first three Star Wars movies The first three Indiana Jones movies Shawshank Redemption When Harry Met Sally Superman Superman II Iron Man That's eighteen movies, and I could easily find more if I checked IMDb. Reidy
If "current" goes back far enough I'd be pleased to add The Aviator.
Darrell Cody
@ Zoid - Well said! @ Everybody: Monsters Versus Aliens was totally life affirming, and from Star Trek to Sucker Punch, it has been individualism/heroes. Did anyone else but me LOVE Sucker Punch? D.C.
Hairnet
I meant recent movies. Since that is the context of this discussion. Although for recent movies it does seem like Pixar, DC, and Marvel make the most. It seems like the family movie industry is the most likely to put out good art, which makes sense. Walt Disney said that he wanted make uplifiting movies that would appeal to both adults and kids. DC and Marvel Comics on the other hand has like four generations of fans now. I just don't really like watching Pixar films, and I am really really tired of super hero movies.
