Virgin Mother of God rejoice! Rejoice all saints and believers! The All Christian American President Barak Hussein Obama just appointed Jesus Christ as his financial adviser. He suggested the introduction of a new tax, based on Jesus teaching:

"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." ( Luke 12:48)

Never mind that words of our Lord actually refer to the beating, that is- physical punishment. In Obama's exegesis which he apparently learned in the Indonesian Muslim school, Jesus gives to him a legitimization to drain the rich dry.

Usually in American politics religion is a realm of the Republican right. Not anymore. Now Republicans and Democrats compete who first will turn USA to theocracy.

And so said Barak Obama, saying:

"I know that far too many neighbors in our country have been hurt and treated unfairly over the last few years, And I believe in God's command to love thy neighbor as thyself. I know a version of that golden rule is found in every major religion and every set of beliefs."

Welcome to the all Christian America in which a separation between Church and State ceased to exist. Hallelujah!

How silly.

That verse had absolutely nothing to do with government taxation. Here's the context to make clear as to what it actually referred:

"And be like men who are waiting for their master to return home from the marriage feast, so that when he returns from the wedding and comes and knocks, they may open to him immediately. Happy, fortunate, and to be envied are those servants whom the master finds awake and alert and watching when he comes. Truly I say to you, he will gird himself and have them recline at table and will come and serve them!

If he comes before midnight or after midnight, and finds them so, happy, fortunate, and to be envied are those servants!

But of this be assured: if the householder had known at what time the burglar was coming, he would have been awake and alert and watching and would not have permitted his house to be dug through and broken into. You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour and a moment when you do not anticipate it.

Peter said, Lord, are You telling this parable for us, or for all alike?

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful steward, the wise man whom his master will set over those in his household service to supply them their allowance of food at the appointed time? Happy and to be envied is that servant whom his master finds so doing when he arrives. Truly I tell you, he will set him in charge over all his possessions.

But if that servant says in his heart, My master is late in coming, and begins to strike the menservants and the maids and to eat and drink and get drunk, The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour of which he does not know, and will punish him and cut him off and assign his lot with the unfaithful.

And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act as he would wish him to act shall be beaten with many lashes.

But he who did not know and did things worthy of a beating shall be beaten with few lashes.

For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more."

This is obviously about the consequences of responsibility. The greater the responsibility... the greater the consequences. And like all truths, it cuts both ways... for better or for worse.

If you think of this as an employer/employee business situation, the common sense principle becomes crystal clear.

From those who have much, even more will be taken.

To those who have little, even more will be given.

A sure recipe for economic disaster.

It sure is. And that is because the original verse does not have the word "take" in it, and had nothing to do with government transfer of wealth programs. It was about the personal consequences of responsibility.

However, it does illustrate that in the world of the left... government uber alles.

"And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marveled at him." ~ Mark 12:17, King James Bible

Jesus may have been the original advocate of a separation of church and state. President Obama needs to go back to Sunday School.

Nothing makes objective discussion difficult like a subject term. Words like fair, enough or "too much" are bandied about too casually and the treatment of these terms as fact rather than opinion is dangerous. The opinion that someone "makes too much", "doesn't pay enough taxes" or "they need to pay their fair share" are the uninformed opinions which shaped this recent election. We have indeed entered an era of the church of statism and every payday is a forced collection to subsidize the good works of this contrived theology.

Again, context is everything.

"Then the Pharisees went and consulted and plotted together how they might entangle Jesus in His talk.

And they sent their disciples to Him along with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that You are sincere and what You profess to be and that You teach the way of God truthfully, regardless of consequences and being afraid of no man; for You are impartial and do not regard either the person or the position of anyone. Tell us then what You think about this: Is it lawful to pay tribute levied on individuals and to be paid yearly to Caesar or not?

But Jesus, aware of their malicious plot, asked, Why do you put Me to the test and try to entrap Me, you hypocrites? Show me the money used for the tribute. And they brought Him a denarius. And Jesus said to them, Whose likeness and title are these? They said, Caesar’s. Then He said to them, Pay therefore to Caesar the things that are due to Caesar, and pay to God the things that are due to God.

When they heard it they were amazed and marveled; and they left Him and departed."

Jesus was surrounded by clever devious deceitful highly intelligent slithering snakes looking for any reason to put Him to death.

Once context has been removed, you can even make Jesus look like an atheist if you choose to do so. ;)

Well said.

While leftism is both secular and political... it is still most definitely a religion. In fact, one could even state with confidence that it is presently the fastest growing religion in the world.

Not just because the living man said he was the alpha and the omega, yes?

Oh, I'd never argue an issue of faith. I was just noting that it's a simple matter to make Jesus look like a liberal, a secularist, a Marxist, or even a statist. Just strip the out the context and anyone could spin the words to mean whatever they wanted.

The Democrats want to take your money and give it to insolvent farmers.

The Republicans want to take your money and give it to insolvent bankers.

The only difference is to whom they want to give your money to. The question of to whom the money belongs is never addressed.

Render to Caesar that which is Caesar's, render to God that which is God's - render the money to whom the money belongs.

A separation of church and state is maintained by the concretization and recognition of the distinction between the two. To blur this distinction only requires the acceptance of things on faith, bromides and/or circumlocutious rationalizations.

And what are you personally doing to address this perceived injustice?

He may have been, but not his Church.

" Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God. 2 So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

Romans 13.

Here again, context makes all the difference in the world.

There is a very important qualifier which is completely absent from your quote, so here again is the full context which makes everything clear:

"Let every person be loyally subject to the governing civil authorities. For there is no authority except from God by His permission and His sanction, and those that exist do so by God’s appointment. Therefore he who resists and sets himself up against the authorities resists what God has appointed and arranged in divine order. And those who resist will bring down judgment upon themselves receiving the penalty due them.

For civil authorities are not a terror to people of good conduct, but to those of bad behavior.

Would you have no dread of him who is in authority? Then do what is right and you will receive his approval and commendation. For he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, you should dread him and be afraid, for he does not bear and wear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant to execute His wrath punishment, vengeance on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be subject, not only to avoid God’s wrath and escape punishment, but also as a matter of principle and for the sake of conscience."

Governments only become bad when enough irresponsible people fail to govern themselves, and they get exactly the bad government they deserve as the consequences of their own failure. People create the government they deserve in their own image which exactly matches their own values... for better, or for worse. Because like all truth... it always cuts both ways.

Separating myself from the church and the state, in as far is as posslble.

That's a wise approach... even though the church had no connection to what you previously mentioned about taking your money away from you. A church does not have the coercive power of confiscation by force that government has, as they are based on voluntary giving and not taxation.

But aside from that, separating from the government is easy. Simply give up the feelings of comfort and security of the expectation that others will bail you out by paying your bills... whether through government insurance, government healthcare, government education, government loans, government grants, government entitlements, government subsidisies, or government jobs...

...and you're home free.

The government needs your permission to become its victim. Because no one who does not live a life deserving of liberty will ever enjoy it.

this from another article:

"President Obama urged religious leaders to back his plan to raise taxes on wealthy Americans — by saying that it is what Jesus would do.

Keeping with a presidential tradition, Obama spoke to the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington Thursday and passionately connected his policies to his religious faith."
