Are natural breasts better than fake ones?

Sometimes a photo of breasts will invoke a question: "Are those real?"  Using standard cultural evaluation, if they're not, that undercuts the positive evaluation. True? If so, why? Why are great looking man-made breasts lesser, along some dimension, when compared to a similar pair that occurred naturally?

Perhaps it is analogous to natural diamonds, compared to modern synthetic diamonds where only an expert can tell that it is man-made. In other words: the value comes from rarity, and that exists in a high-quality natural diamond, while synthetic ones can be manufactured in much larger numbers. Or is it some other reason?

I can't speak from experience here, so somebody else would need to confirm this, but I think I've heard that they feel different and, I guess, not as pleasant? My guess is that kind of undercuts whatever fun somebody may imagine having feeling them up or something like that, like the news is disappointing. "Oh, so that wouldn't actually be as good as I thought . . ." If that's not it, then I don't know what the hell people's problem could be without getting really irrational, like naturalistic fallacy or some kind of just not wanting to allow for somebody to choose/improve upon(?) things that are usually genetically given, like it doesn't count. Or maybe like they treat looks as some sort of caste system where you're born into a category and that's that and they think it's some kind of trick that surgical alterations are merely a disguise and that really, in spite of how little sense it makes, that person still doesn't really look like what they now look like post surgery.

You can usually tell if a woman has implants by touching and it just doesn't feel as good as natural breasts.

(I am not saying you should feel the same way I do)

Bluecherry's explanation might fit some guys though. I personally don't care when it comes to people I can only see and not touch.

On a related note, there is a common aversion to elective plastic surgery of any kind. While there are certainly horror stories, there are also plenty of immensely successful examples of plastic surgery being used to make individuals look better. Just Google image search Raquel Welch, the hottest 73 year old woman on the planet.

Possibly relevant article that I read today: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/01/opinion/sunday/the-ways-of-lust.html?partner=rss&emc=rss

My thinking is that most often, it's most like the naturalistic fallacy possibility you mention. Something like "be happy with your mind, your body is inconsequential to your worth" which is something like a resistance to any people who irrationally judge someone's worth based on appearance, even if they only believe that's the case (i.e. for a norm to exist, people only need to believe it exists). Really it reduces into a mind/body dichotomy. So getting plastic surgery indicates "faking" your beauty that should be natural, or you care about looks too much. The article I linked shows at the very least, people make notable judgments about how people are mentally based on whether someone is nude or not. It's not a stretch to think that plastic surgery or not is going to make assumptions about a person's moral worth or thinking habits. A rational/sensible reaction probably has a lot to do with having a good sense of integrating mind and body - you'd end up probably something like your first explanation.

Dormin, that may be true, but it seems really relevant to thinking about how much of a big deal a lot of society makes out of nudity, the body, or anything "visceral" like that.

It's just my preference but to me a perfectly round boob is just oddly unnatural looking. Even with the modern implants you can always tell, eventually. I think naturals look way better, and it starts to show especially as women get older, and after pregnancy, Implants need to be replaced like every 10 years and every time they do it the woman loses breast tissue. And the weight of the implant does take its toll in older women.

But the main thing for me is how they feel. They're way too tight usually and you can almost always feel the implant. If you're not expecting it, it can be a bit odd...and sometimes discourages further...manipulation

however, it's not like I'm going to shy away from a woman just because she has fake boobs...because let's be honest....

My thoughts exactly! :P (And I didn't know her boobs were fake...?)

I think humans base their standards of human beauty on biologically given looks. Then, we doctor ourselves up to look like better versions of ourselves more closely aligned to naturally given traits found in others. Even with continually changing personal taste starting in adolescence, it's still all about what occurs without human alterations.

Of course, physical beauty isn't really ever judged by itself. Our sexual preferences have a heavy hand, as well as our assessment of the person him/herself, when known (and when not known usually projected). I have tried judging by physical traits alone in the past, with decent success, but I find that I don't even want to -- sexual preferences make the judging much more enjoyable.

With boobs, having zero sexual impulse myself either way, there are still a variety of "styles" that I think look attractive. The big busty women a la Beyoncé have a great, voluptuous look that is really attractive. Likewise, flatter breasts usually accompany delicate bodies, which I think have their own beauty.

And I don't care how any of them feel, but the thought of cutting your body open and permanently installing an uncomfortable, foreign object is to me silly, at best.

Well, man(kind) has defied gravity in all kinds of ways, so nothing wrong with women doing it, too. Personally natural is best, for feel and looks. That gradual slight sag of breasts over time is real, womanly and sexy to me. I should emphasize "slight'.

(yeah they're fake) I think she should've just let them be. Because if she ever has kids they'll inevitably grow, and they were fine as it is. But she's also gotten other stuff done, like her lips.

I think culture plays a big role as well. In South Korea, they have some of the best plastic surgeons in the world, and more plastic surgery done than anywhere on earth I believe. You see ads for it all the time. It's openly encouraged by employers, mentors, parents. A lot of this is tied into their population growth problems, so that having a child is a serious financial consideration, and all efforts go into its perfection.

I wouldn't have anything against surgically altered breasts (or whatever other bodypart) that look and feel real and better than they looked and felt before.

I do have a problem with surgically altered breasts that look great when strategically wrapped up out in public, to strangers, but look and feel awful to the person who's supposed to matter the most. Unless it's a fetish, they serve only one purpose: to feed vanity.

I got the same impression, in both SK and Japan in fact. And I don't see a problem with that attitude.

I find those bulging silicon balloons a horrible sight, I can't understand that there are really men who find those attractive, it's so obvious fake. It's something different if the woman is completely flatchested or has those long and hanging breasts with nipples pointing downward. In such cases a modest implant and/or lift may be an improvement. But natural breasts are always sagging more or less, unless you're a young girl. That's part of their charm, als long as they're not going too low.

There's a huge difference depending on the implants, how they're placed and the surgeon.

In my opinion more women and surgeons should pay closer attention to aesthetics, so that they understand that breasts don't just lay there on top of the chest. Furthermore, round hard balls don't just look bad - they don't feel very good either.

However, in contrast to women wanting to look like pornstars there are also the kind of breasts that just look and feel great. It would be almost impossible to tell them apart from natural breats if you don't notice the scars or ask her.

Or, like my current romantic interest told me: "A lot of guys say they dislike implants. Funny how they can't seem to stop playing with them...".

I think it's great that we have seen such advancements in plastic surgery. Not just because I love boobs, but because it allows people to a much further extent choose the way they look. I certainly don't agree with all the choices people make, but it's great that there actually is a choice.

Fake breasts are better in some ways, and worse in others. (I have had 5 lovers with implants.)

The bad news:

Silicon implants are too stiff; they don't feel as good to the touch, unless you have a fetish for kneading softballs.

And Alfa is right: Depending on how the surgeon places them, a woman can lose sensitivity in the nipples and aereolas. And a shoddy doctor can cause the aereolas to stretch. (One of my lovers aereolas went from silver dollars to the circumfrence of a crop circle.

She can't breastfeed. Another lover of mine had them taken out to breastfeed, then reinserted when her kid was done with breastfeeding. (She had saline, then opted for peanut oil implants, both of which are softer than silicon.)

And the weight of the large ones causes them sag within a few years...this is tied to the good news:

Implants provide firmness for a woman with saggy breasts (until they sag again from the weight).

They can make a woman feel better about her body.

They can make an exotic dancer earn more.
