But there’s no doubt about the value of transparency when it comes to keeping a public body in check, especially when it exercises as awesome a power over our lives as the federal government. I’ve found that most Americans know very little about the day-to-day operations of their government besides the obvious facts that: 1) it’s slow, 2) it’s expensive, 3) it’s big, and 4) it’s only getting bigger. And how could they know? The information isn’t exactly gushing forth from the most transparent administration in history.
