DavidV
Thanks to the Premium forums signups, I’ve been able to make several upgrades to this website, including moving to a faster web server, adding the blog service, and now an expanded list of forums to make room for recent and future growth. What do you think of the new configuration?
JMeganSnow
Whoa. Personally I like it; it's much more obvious which posts should go where.
plaintext
I like it. The only anomaly is the "premium forum" section. I wish there were a way to get money for this site without splitting the threads between premium and non-premium...thus creating potential duplication. IDC
As this is an Objectivist board, I think instead of trying to guess sensible categories in advance of experience, we should just start out with a flat list of threads (ala Usenet). Then slowly observe over time what categories of posts people really are posting, and define the categories objectively on that basis. DavidV
That’s exactly what I did – you just haven’t been here long enough.

softwareNerd
My idea (related to a re-org) is to have an index for certain things. To me, the most important would be: movies and books. I'd love to see a single page that has an alphabetical list of the movies that have been mentioned on the forum, and links to the relevant posts or threads. The same for books, by age-group and then alphabetical. I'm willing to put my time where my mouth is on this. If there is some way I can help gather such a list, even if it incomplete to start, I'd be happy to help. Another list that deserves a page is the poetry. Not sure how best that could be organized. The way I see it in my mind is a sub-section on the site could be something less clumsy than "Art that Objectivists like/dislike".
McGroarty
The movie index is definitely something you could build within the Wiki. The Wiki will let you create lists of links back to the forum. As far as finding all the movie threads goes, I would bet searches on "movie" and "film" would turn up most everything relevant in the forum's history. softwareNerd
Thanks. I didn't think of it, because I've never visited the Wiki. I will check it out.
softwareNerd
I started a Wiki page with a HUGE list of movie recommendations that have been made to me across various Objectivism-related discussion groups and forums. The list is a little dated, and does not yet include more recent movies.Objectivist Movie Recommendations I linked this from a page called .Objectivist Recommendations, but that page has not been linked into anything else... somewhere in Aesthetics perhaps? DavidV
Thanks. I will also add a link in the movie forum's description.
