Alon
Nice to meet you Amanda! Always nice to have another history enthusiast on board. I'm somewhat interested in Medieval history myself - Late Antiquity to be exact - especially the development of the European states after the fall of Rome, the conversion of Pagan Europe, and the evolution of the Common Law. What are your particular interests in Medieval history?

What are your particular interests in Medieval history? my interest is the fall of the roman empire into the byzantine empire - particularly Justinians rule... i also enjoy learning about the thinkers of the enlightenment... voltaire in particular, and who i call the "second generation enlightenment thinker" thomas jefferson. amanda526
Alon, i see in your profile you go to U of T... i was just there in february for the North American Model United Nations conference... Toronto is a beautiful city and U of T seems great! I hear they have an excellent medieval history dept... i may consider going there for my doctorate work. Alon
Amanda, I'm happy you liked the city, did you get a chance to tour the campus? UofT does have an excellent Medieval Studies department, and there is also the Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies which is (I was told) world famous. How's your Latin? amanda526
the latin is fuzzy, however, i am refreshing myself using a book and latin dictionary. i am working with a prof at school (who happened to get his BA, MA, and Ph.D from U of T) to start a latin reading group. it would basically be a group of students and professors who meet once again and interpret passages from the bible, ancient texts, and even common kids books done in latin. i hope it comes through, b/c i think it would be fun.
