Its a pretty fun game. Here is my nation:

The Republic of UtopiaofGreed

"Give me freedom or give me death!"

UN Category: Capitalist Paradise

Civil Rights: Excellent

Economy: Thriving

Political Freedoms: Some

Location: United Capitalist States

The Republic of UtopiaofGreed is a small, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 14 million are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Commerce and Defence are on the agenda. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Arms Manufacturing, and Retail industries.

Citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked, employers may fire workers without giving any reason, surveillance cameras are banned, and thieves are flogged in public for their crimes. Crime is pervasive. UtopiaofGreed's national animal is the turkey, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

UtopiaofGreed is ranked 1st in the region and 66,130th in the world for Largest Automobile Manufacturing Sector.

It is a very good IDEA for a game... the execution is less than perfect though. This would be a really good game if it wasn't so one dimensional and if the user had more control.

Having said that, here's my country:

The Republic of Phoenix of Atlantis

"A leash is only a rope with a noose at both ends."

UN Category: Anarchy

Civil Rights: Superb

Economy: Very Strong

Political Freedoms: World Benchmark

Location: the West Pacific

The Republic of Phoenix of Atlantis is a small, economically powerful nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 10 million live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Furniture Restoration, Trout Farming, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales industries.

All tariffs have been abolished, the death penalty has been reintroduced, the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Phoenix of Atlantis's national animal is the phoenix, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

Phoenix of Atlantis is ranked 1964th in the region and 38,181st in the world for Largest Automobile Manufacturing Sector.

Everyone should make nations and move them Here: to the United Capitalist States. (the game isn't time consuming)

http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index....n=utopiaofgreed

you can get there from here.

Its a region where only free nations are allowed unlike the other "capitalist" regions.

this is one of three offered solutions for the euthanasia debate in the game:

"there is never a right time for euthanasia," says Bishop Melbourne Jefferson. "The lives we lead are given to us by the grace of God, and he decides when they end. It is not for us to question God's divine purpose,no matter how odd or screwed-up it may seem."

italics added

I thought that was funny.

How do you design a game that accurately models the effects of political premises?

Wouldn't the rationalism inherent in software design inevitably bias the outcomes of such games in favor of the beliefs of their programmers, regardless of the correctness of the players' axioms?

My nation:

The Republic of Selfish Money Grabbers

"For the glory of man"

UN Category: Capitalist

Civil Rights: Superb Economy: Thriving Political Freedoms: Excellent

Location: Asia

The Republic of Selfish Money Grabbers is a large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 32 million enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Commerce and Social Equality are secondary priorities. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Cheese Exports, Automobile Manufacturing, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales industries.

The police force is on a recruitment drive, employers may fire workers without giving any reason, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, and organ donation rates are among the lowest in the region. Crime is a major problem. Selfish Money Grabbers's national animal is the pig, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the gold standard.

Selfish Money Grabbers is ranked 41st in the region and 29,678th in the world for Largest Pizza Delivery Sector.
