HaloNoble6
If you would be interested in discussing the books in Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth in detail in a subforum here at OO.net, please post a "yes" in this thread. I've taken a look at the forum at terrygoodkind.com and it's not to my liking. I'm very interested in discussing the nature of Goodkind's heroes as they relate to Objectivism. JMeganSnow
That sounds like a good idea, Felipe . . . maybe create subforums for other popular/important authors when they come up? Goodkind is the only one I can think of so far. Maybe a Harry Potter subforum
softwareNerd
I wish I was qualified to join in a Terry Goodkind discussion. I would definitely be interested in reading. I vote yes. [Now, off to Amazon to buy 'Sword of Truth'] Edited August 2, 2005 by softwareNerd
iouswuoibev
Nay. I am a Goodkind fan, but I don't think that discussion on Goodkind's works warrants a whole forum to itself. There are already existing Goodkind threads that are gathering dust. Why not use these? I think if a seperate forum is made it too will gather dust. HaloNoble6
Well, those threads discuss him in general terms. I was thinking about getting into the detail of stories and characters. I'm also thinking of using the Google ads to attract people who use Goodkind keywords, and link them directly to that forum.
studentofobjectivism
I think it's a good idea. Anybody who's ever went to the forums at terrygoodkind.com know the kind of bs that goes on there. No one hardly understands anything in the book or its deeper meanings...most just take Sword of Truth as pulp fantasy like Robert Jordan. HaloNoble6
Exactly, it's very disappointing.
softwareNerd
No harm trying it if there is more initial interest than already expressed. If it begins to gather dust, the threads can be moved and the sub-forum removed.
rob.sfo
Considering that a Google search for "Terry Goodkind philosophy" was what initially introduced me to Ayn Rand & Objectivism, I'm going to have to "yes" this.
erik
Why not contact Terry Goodkinds webmaster and do a link exchange. If he is an Objectivist he shouldn't mind.
Michelangelo
The website, www.terrygood.com is not owned by Terry Goodkind. It's a good friend of Terry's that owns the site, so that might complicate things a bit, but if you want to reach the friend his email is [email protected] found at http://www.terrygoodkind.com/contact.php
Prometheus98876
I used to peek into the Terry Goodkind site (run by his friend 'Zedd') once in a while, and Mich. is right, most of the posters have no real understanding of the themes of the books... They used to have an Objectivist Reasoning section where on occasion there would be a decent thread etc, but that is currently gone. Apparently they are still working on updating the site, and they say that bits have yet to be put back where they belong, so it might turn up again one of these days. I hope so, since it is has been gone, the members of the forum whom once posted good stuff seem to have vanished..
