Proverb Posted September 3, 2005 Report Share Posted September 3, 2005 I believe Ayn Rand indicated that different rules *do* apply in arguable "lifeboat" scenarios. As much as the federal/state/local government has the ability, they should save lives, but not if it calls on making others suffer for the efforts. They are not 'rules' and are not really different. Emergency situaitons and actions during are still based on rational value judgements, but the value judgments include weighing the saving of life against the risk to one's own life.
