You said “we are aware that we are aware” , the part after ‘that’ is let’s call it a cognizant , an item of cognition, a conceptual understanding of a relationship between a cognitive entity and an item of cognition. Awareness can know as an object the fact that ‘it’ is aware, but how could it , from what perspective could it see itself as an object? If it can know or see itself , it could not be itself and the thing seen at the same time.(A is A) Drg-drsya -viveka is a book that explores the question. Or to reframe into a more materialistic question or contemplation using sight, what/where is the ‘end product’ of phenomenal experience apprehended or displayed? Science can describe the mechanistic functions of the eye and then the nerve pathway that takes those signals/data to the brain , but what is doing the seeing , what is sitting in front of the ‘screen’ seeing the light that did not actually travel ‘into’ the brain? Awareness is of the experience, the buck stops at the experiencer, it can’t be the experience. Edited April 24 by tadmjones Quote

How is this an example of Identity? On 4/23/2025 at 9:16 PM, tadmjones said: Awareness is of the experience, the buck stops at the experiencer, it can’t be the experience. You seem to be conflating the experience with the thing experienced. Quote
