Al Kufr
They may not just be preparing to attack the U.S. but they also think they can win . . . Now Iran has given the U.S. evey reason to attack them even this horrifing one. The scary thing is that the scenerio presented here is very plausible, and the fact that they think they can win is another example of the contempt that they have for the U.S. They think they can win because we have given them every reason to think that, as you will see here. http://artofwarplus.com/wordpress/?p=577 IRAN READYING FOR CONFLICT WITH US by Amir Taheri http://www.benadorassociates.com/article/18347
studentofobjectivism
In the event of nuclear holocaust, we must attack the terrorists. They have hijacked a peaceful religion.
Yes
Iran is the world's second largest producer of oil in the world. All the oil they need to generate their power is at their disposal. Yet they insist their nuke program is to generate energy, and they deny that they plan to produce weapons? Who are they kidding?
The Wrath
Iran is bluffing. They know they can't win a war with us. If you'll remember, the Iraqi defense minister also made outrageous claims, such as the one that coalition troops were running away in fear, all the while we're marching right into the heart of Baghdad. EC
Iran is bluffing. They know they can't win a war with us. If you'll remember, the Iraqi defense minister also made outrageous claims, such as the one that coalition troops were running away in fear, all the while we're marching right into the heart of Baghdad. You are trying to apply reason to the irrational. Do you think that Al-Quaida thinks think can't beat us?
Styles2112
Iran is not planning to start a war with us, at least, not on a military front. (Though, I'm sure they fund terrorist acts.) They are, however, thumbing their nose at us trying to get us to invade them, where they WOULD have a better chance at defeating us. They've seen that it's been extremely successful NOT to fight a war, but to lure us in and beat at us over time. Plus, they know that should we invade, we'd be spread even thinner than we are now....making us more ripe for attack. Their one mistake is that they've pissed off Europe enough that Europe would (at this point) back (possibly front) the attack. That may be more than Iran can handle. We'll see. Right now they're just blowing smoke out their backside.
Unconquered
They are, however, thumbing their nose at us trying to get us to invade them, where they WOULD have a better chance at defeating us. Only if the West (basically, the U.S. and to a degree, Britain) keeps playing footsy with these people rather than decimating them ala WW2, for which the capability exists in spades. It would not have taken many thermonuclear explosions over key Islamic theocracy targets to stop them forever. The scenario is the U.S. announcing on 9/12/01: "This is the price you pay for attacking us (satellite images of Tehran, Riyadh, Mecca, Islamabad, Damascus, and various parts of Afghanistan, converted into a cloud of radioactive plasma). We have 5,990 thermonuclear warheads left - go ahead and make our day. Additionally, American troops have now secured all Middle Eastern oil fields, and the U.S. now declares them the property of the U.S. government, to be auctioned off to Western oil companies. Any further terrorist or warlike actions against the U.S. will be treated with the total annihilation of the countries sponsoring them." That's if the any of the politicians today had 1/10 of the sense of the men in 1945. A man in body armor, bristling with weapons capable of killing all of his enemies, but unwilling to use them, is worse off than a practically naked savage with a bow and arrow who has no qualms about using it. Styles2112
I would suggest that the situation is more complex than that....But, we'd never see eye to eye on it anyways.
