buiq
Hello: In evolution, it is not the strongest that survives nor the weakest. It is the most adaptable to the environment survives. Base on the above statement, the environment then essentially affects the behaviours of the individual or group. The individual or group cognitively behaves one way or another to adapt to the environment to survive- B.F Skinner's point of view. Rand objected to behaviorism. Could you tell me where I can obtain her writing on the subject of behaviourism? Thanks. Q
Tom
Remarks concerning B.F. Skinner can be found in "the Stimulus and the Response", available in the book _Philosophy: Who Needs it?_
stephen_speicher
The individual or group cognitively behaves one way or another to adapt to the environment to survive- B.F Skinner's point of view. Rand objected to behaviorism. The key point is that man is volitional and by proper use of his conceptual consciousness he possesses the ability to adapt the environment to suit his own purpose. Could you tell me where I can obtain her writing on the subject of behaviourism? Ayn Rand wrote a series of brilliant critical articles prompted by Skinner's book Beyond Freedom and Dignity. There were four articles starting in the January 17, 1972 issue of The Ayn Rand Letter and continuing through the February 28, 1972 issue. Some, if not all, of that material is reprinted in her compilation book Philosophy: Who Needs It.
