softwareNerd
Please veto the New Children's Health Insurance Bill. We have too many welfare programs in this country. For background see this. To send your own email: here's one option. It takes just a few minutes.
DarkWaters
As of this posting, the U.S. Senate has voted on the horrendous The Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act of 2007, which will hobble the mortgage market. You can read more about the bill here. I think that we should all e-mail our Senators via Congress.org. It will only take a few minutes. Here is my letter: Please vote against the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act of 2007. It is unnecessary and immoral regulation of the mortgage-market. Its passage will inevitably result in higher mortgage rates to account for the higher risk of lawsuits.
softwareNerd
My first letter to Congress for this year: I am against any congressional plan to send out tax-rebates. Such plans are Keynesian voodoo economics that will simply burden my child's generation with more taxes. The government must reduce spending, not spending more money it does not have! Also, as currently proposed, the plan is yet another government wealth redistribution program. Please have the integrity to stand up against such blatant vote-buying in an election year. Please vote against any such so called economic band-aid.
softwareNerd
Please vote NO on Bill S 2433, the "Global Poverty" bill. Our government has no business committing tax-payer money on the funding the reduction of global poverty. DarkWaters
Hey guys, Although I fell behind while I was on the job market, I recently resumed writing my federal legislators on a regular basis. Here are a handful of messages that I wrote recently. I strongly recommend that you take action on these issues through Congress.org. It is fast and easy activism on very serious issues. In particular, I recommend taking action on the upcoming Global Poverty Act, which Senator Obama has proposed. *** Immigration *** I think anyone who wants to come to the United States to do honest, productive work should be allowed a worker visa barring that they are not a criminal, terrorist or carry any infectious, deadly diseases. Such a policy is moral and will be good for the economy as it will encourage the brightest and most productive individuals to come to the United States. Please be a pro-immigration congressman. *** Incandescent Bulbs *** Please propose legislation to cancel the impending ban on incandescent bulbs. Unlike compact fluorescent bulbs, incandescent bulbs do not contain mercury and can be used on circuits with dimmer switches. Consumers have the right to choose which product they wish to purchase. The upcoming ban on Thomas Edison's great invention is at best pointless if not detrimental to enjoying one's household as one sees fit. *** Health Care Reform *** This country is in desperate need of health care reform but increasing government control is not the answer. Instead, we should look to free-market reforms. Please propose legislation in this spirit. For example, please end the various insurance mandates such as those of guaranteed issue, community rating or guaranteed renewability and the various benefit mandates. Furthermore, please allow individuals to purchase out-of-state health insurance to introduce more competition into the health insurance market. Please be a pro-free market legislator when it comes to health care. *** Economic Stimulus Plan *** I am very disappointed that you all supported the recent economic stimulus plan. This is nothing more than a welfare redistribution program, which is actually *harmful* for the economy. The health of an economy is driven by the production of goods and services and the generation of new ideas; not by consumption. The only way to stimulate the economy is to reduce unnecessary regulations on trade and to keep corporate taxes low. Please vote against future welfare redistribution legislation, such as the aforementioned. *** Global Poverty Bill *** Please vote against the Global Poverty Act (S.2433). U.S. taxpayers are burdened enough having to support the poor and the needy within the domestic United States. The last thing we need is for U.S. taxpayers to be forced, through mandatory taxation, to have to provide for the needy and the poor overseas. The needs of the poor outside of the U.S. can and should be addressed by voluntary charity, not through federal government policy.
softwareNerd
** Subject: The Earth is ours to use *** On "Earth Day", I want to protest against the various environmental regulations that are raising my cost of living and forcing us to sacrifice the pleasure of consumption, as if Earth was some type of Goddess. The Earth exists for human beings. We should exploit it for our benefit. Today, we are holding back our economic development by sacrificing ourselves on the altar of environmentalism. softwareNerd
Take some time to tell your senator that you do not support the "stimulus bill". Here is a letter that I used as the basis of one of my own; but, even a single-line, saying you do not support it would be good. Added: For more ideas, here's another letter. drgreg
You will find quick and easy ways to communicate your messages to Congress on the "Political Ammunition" page of the website for Doctors on Strike: http://www.doctorsonstrike.com Although this sight is designed to wage war with statism in healthcare, the tools on the "Political Ammunition" page can be used for other messages. Check out the page on The Blue Dog Coalition--there is nothing like this--to my knowledge--anywhere else on the web.
K-Mac
You will find quick and easy ways to communicate your messages to Congress ... Beware of this guy! http://www.solopassion.com/node/6539#comment-74231 He's obviously uninformed about FIRM and the highly unprofessional (and down right childish) approach he took in insulting others in the O'ist community left a really bad taste in my mouth. softwareNerd
A Congressman has a bill to repeal the (effective) ban on incandescent light bulbs. You cane-mail your congressman in support of this bill.
JASKN
Please vote to repeal the ban on the light bulbs. The government has no business butting into my choice here (or the manufacturers'), and I like the regular bulbs, not the "environment" ones. Hope this bill is the one to do it. Thanks for the heads-up.
