I'm glad you mentioned this. I have been thinking of John Ridpath recently, just wondering how his health is doing. That he will be giving this talk leads me to believe that he is in good health. I've been busy with my life and he's a man whose work I'd rather not interrupt, and so I've taken no opportunity to communicate with the man. You see, he's like my Monodnack Valley. Relative to the potential of an entire life, he taught me in mine for two years very early and then that gave me inspiration to move on with the adventure on my own.

He is an amazing intellect.

I can't make it to the talk. I live in Toronto.

Jose.

In speaking further with Dr. Ridpath, I have (again) updated the description of the event, especially regarding the topics. For the current description of the event, please see our list of upcoming events at: http://aynrand.meetup.com/71/calendar/list/

Dr. Ridpath said he will be glad to be helpful and patient in responding anyone's questions about Objectivism and to reminisce about his personal friendship with Ayn Rand (although he would prefer not to address the private relationships of Ayn Rand or the Kelley/Peikoff issues).

He also suggested that it would be helpful to him if some of the audience would give us some advance written questions for the Q&A portion of his lecture. If you are planning to attend, would you please think about this and send a question or two to me so that I can organize and compile them for Dr. Ridpath in advance? You can reach me via the "Contact Organizer" e-mail feature of Meetup at: http://aynrand.meetup.com/71/suggestion/ or via ObjectivismOnline.Net.

For example, one of my own questions for Dr. Ridpath is a request that he explain or expand on Ayn Rand's statement that "every is implies an ought," on which topic there has been some recent discussion on ObjectivismOnline.Net.

Also, if you have not done so already, please take a few minutes to make an early RSVP regarding this NTOS event. So far, about 35 people have let me know they plan to attend. (To those who have already done so, thank you!) RSVPs are of great help to us in planning for how large a hosting facility we will need, which plans we will be finalizng in the coming week. You can always see our list of upcoming events and make RSVPs at: http://aynrand.meetup.com/71/calendar/list/

Dr. Ridpath is reported to be quite a good speaker. I hope you will be able to join us for his visit!

Thank you,

Old Toad
