Ayn Rand's Steady-State Universe

Since Ayn Rand also used developmental psychology in ITOE, then ITOE should be updated based on the most recent findings of cognitive developmental psychology. —Quite so

Rand denied the existence of human instincts. Are you implying that the baby in your explanation is acting instinctively? —Rand did not seem to have any notion of instinct beyond the sort had by Schopenhauer (replaced by intelligence in man) or the sort had in Freud. Today there are more refined concepts of instincts and their relations to other skils, and I’d want to cash my answer in terms of those of today—another day. (The Freud type would be irrelevant in this cognitive arena, I imagine.) It is nothing for people at this site to contradict Ayn Rand. That is routine here, and there are big variances***** between me and Rand notwithstanding our considerable overlap and notwithstanding my considerable understanding of her ideas and my dedication to accurate representation of them, just as any of my representations of any philosopher.
