Well, for all my talk of abstaining, I just couldn’t help Obama. (I’m weak, I know. I need help. 
) I voted exactly as Steve did, with the exception of Schaeffer instead of Udall…at least Schaeffer wants to abolish the Dept of Education and admits it is only furthering a communist agenda. (I think if we can regain control of education in this country, we may have a shot at something positive.)

Obama for president, Libertarians for Senate, House, and State House (it’s NH, they actually run libertarians there). Deciding issues for me involved foreign policy and contributing to the total destruction and disemboweling of the GOP so that maybe they will rebuild into something better. Also my perception that Obama is a good deal smarter and at least willing to consider ideas than McCain, even if many (most?) of his ideas are bad ones. It’s up for debate whether smart-bad is more dangerous than stupid-bad, but I guess I have a belief that intelligence leaves you at least incrementally more open to reason (psychologically, this is probably debatable).
Also I will bet you five bucks that McCain is dead within two or three years, in which case we’d have Pres. Caribou Barbie to look forward to. Please no.

There is a thread on the forum about it HERE. Someone had brought this party to my attention last month elsewhere and I had never heard of it before, so I checked them out, and I’m sure that thread and Professor Hsieh go into it more than I did, but this is what I briefly gather in the few minutes I took to look at the party: the President that they nominated was and/or still is affilated with Libertarians, for one. So when I read that he’s lives his life in accordance with Ayn Rand philosophy, I’d immediately recall what she’s said about the Libertarians, about joining their party, associating affiliating with them, how they plagiarized her ideas, and so on.

Abstained from president, voted for my states Senate Republican because he seems (unlikely I know) to have some semblence of respect for individual rights, and I loathe Carl Levin’s wretched hide. The rest I voted mainly Democratic, and yes to a proposal for medical marijuana and another for stem-cell research.
Just got back from voting. Never voted on a computer before, kinda cool. Anyway I did Obama, then everyone else democrat. That’s cuz, again, I live in Utah, so the entire political spectrum is vastly shifted. Democrat here means “moderate”. I said no to all the judges and no to any initiative involving money.
I did a protest write-in for President, John Galt*, hoping that maybe someone will read it and understand that I want my government to uphold individual rights. For the rest, I voted mixed and cross-party as a registered Republican, hoping for gridlock. I figure if the government is fighting itself, that will give me more freedom. Though I think I voted primarily Republican for US House and Senate, since I think Democrats will have a majority. I actually wasn’t voting FOR anyone, but rather AGAINST everyone being one party, until something better comes along. I voted YES for beer and wine sales in my local district, since if I want to drink alcohol, I have to drive more than ten miles to get it. Don’t want a bunch of winos in my area, but I figure they could get it if they wanted it anyhow.
*I guess we have to be careful about this, just in case some day a real guy named John Galt shows up and is possibly viable for voting into office accidentally
I know it is somewhat trivial, but I don’t know of a real person who I would vote FOR given my principles.
I voted for Ron Paul for president, rather than abstain. (There is no line to write on in colorado, so I just wrote it up the side between the other names and the line.) I voted all republican for the rest of the offices. Oh, and NO on amendment 48!

I submitted a largely blank ballot, including the presidential section (I refuse to give my sanction to statists). I did vote against a state healthcare referendum.
OK for all my talk of voting 3rd party, I just couldn’t bring myself to vote for any candidate for president. I did vote for a republican for NY state assembly who, on the issues positions test at www.vote-smart.org, answered pro-choice, pro-gun, pro-death penalty and for reducing or maintaining tax levels (no increases).
In NY we had one amendment to make it possible for disabled veterans, who are not receiving disability benefits, to get civil service credits on “competitive civil service examinations”.
I also abstained from voting for offices where I only had 1 choice (Socialist Buffalonian State Senator, county judge, family court judge). For my congressional rep, I voted Republican, mainly because our current rep is a big government socialist. You should have seen the form letter I got outlining all the great reasons why the government should “rescue the financial services industry”. She blamed the whole disaster on deregulation, lack of oversight, and loss of transparency - basically not enough government regulations led to this failure in the market.
So, in the end, the numbers will show someone who came out to vote, but abstained from choosing a president. They can’t blame it on hanging chads in NY either, we have those nifty mechanical voting machines. I think I like this whole selective voting process.
I live in Illinois, which is probably going to go 90 percent Obama, so I knew my vote wouldn’t mean anything, so I voted with my heart and went for Bob Barr because he was the closest thing to sane out there. If I lived in a swing state though, I would have gone for McCain – anyone is better than Chairman Obama.
Voted for McCain, not because I like him, but because Obama is evil personified. Voted against all my state ballot measures. Yep…it’s being called as of 10pm central, that Obama won the Presidency with a Democrat majority in both the House and the Senate. Still, if the Republicans had a back bone, they could prevent run away socialism; but they don’t, so I just hope it doesn’t get that far explicitly.
I wrote in my parents for president and VP. So, practically speaking, I abstained, for the reasons presented in other threads: I cannot in good conscience give support to either candidate in the form of a vote.
