In a recent news article, the government is floating the idea that they ought to keep track of how many miles you drive and where you drive in order to tax you for road usage. Fortunately, there is an outcry over this, since it would basically be the government spying on you everywhere you go. They claim that current gas tax does not pay for road development and upkeep, but they don’t want to raise gasoline tax in a recession, and are trying to find ways to not only tax you on gasoline, but have you install a device on your car that will keep track of how many miles you drive, what roads you drive on, and whether you drive during high traffic times or not. The Obama administration has said it won’t do this, but once the government floats and idea – such as censoring the Internet – it’s only a matter of time before they put it into action if it looks like voters won’t complain about it too much.
The government can kiss my shiney arse.
Let us hope the blood of the public keeps boiling then. I barely drive as it is considering my finances are static. Am I to be under self-imposed house arrest if they go through with it?
I’m glad I don’t even own a car.
I wonder if they’ll also figure out a way to put gadgets on pedestrians, like those Justice Electronic bracelets for offenders on parole.
