It's all fun and games until someone gets a magic marker

12 year old girl here in Queens, New York, gets cuffed, arrested, and detained for 5 hours. For writing on a desk in magic marker. On top of that, she has to do community service, she has to write an essay on why what she did was wrong, and she was still suspended.

Boy, I sure do want more public school!

And the city officials are just like “Whoops, sorry about that”. I’d like to see a private school administrator try this shit and get away with saying “Oh, it was a mistake”.

Poor girl. I wouldn’t be surprised if she grows up with contempt for authority now.

I apologize if this has already been posted

That will teach her!

That would be good.

Were the arresting officer’s parents brother and sister?

Were the arresting officer’s parents brother and sister?

It doesn’t seem wise to blame the police, necessarily. The idiot seems to be the authority of the school, in this case.

This reminds me of something else I heard recently, though I’m not sure if the school in the case I heard about was public or private. Science project mistaken for bomb, things go badly awry.

Hearing these things about what schools are doing to children is pissing me off. There had better be an uproar about this, and someone had better be punished!

This could be the start of a new revolution.. against public education!

Maybe people will think twice before bitching about private schools and homeschooling now, at least. An end to public education will probably never happen, but the best we can hope for is that more and more parents are financially equipped to put them in private schools/teach them themselves. There is no “right” to an education. Of course, if you are a parent, you may have a pre-existing duty to provide it.

Very reactionary.

After Sept. 11, 2001 a white powder was discovered on the floor in the cafeteria at my daughters Tenn. High School. The school was evacuated, and a specialty team called in to clean up the mess. After analysis, the mysterious white powder was identified as flour. Imagine that, flour in a cafeteria?

Draw a picture that includes a gun, receive a suspension.

Use as dangerous weapon a weapon as a magic marker and assault your victim by scraping your weapon across its . . . oh the viciousness, the threat to the other potential victims in the vicinity . . .
