Would you be more specific as to the nature of the racism against blacks which you refer to?
I ask because the only institutionalized racism that I am aware of in this country, currently, is directed against white males in particular. Affirmative action, quotas, college and grad school admissions, scholarships(Know of any for “Caucasian males?”), preferential treatment for government jobs, etc.
Also, the fact that Barak Obama is a serious contender for the throne would indicate that a significant number of Americans are not Judging him based on his race, if you were thinking more along the lines of some nebulous, societal oppression.
I don’t watch a lot of news though I have been checking foxnews.com and newsmax.com regularly, and I have to wonder why no one is calling Jesse Jackson out on making a physical, violent threat to a presidential candidate. If someone else had said that, do you think they’d get off scott free with only an apology, or would the Secret Service be doing an anal scan on their entire history? Seems it is OK for a black man to threaten another black man, but if a white man had said that, especially if he wasn’t well-known, there would be a lot of talk of him being a racist and wanting to castrate a black man’s progeny, and would probably be locked away fora very long time. And then Jesse Jackson and his ilk wonder why there is so much black on black violence, when Jesse Jackson himself threatened to do physical harm to a man merely for disagreeing with him about the role of black churches. Of course, black churches are Jesse Jackson’s power base, and if a well-know and popular black man disses them as Obama has, why the whole thing might come tumbling down; so he needs to be told that his nuts will be cut off if he continues, just to keep him in his place.
The whole thing is disgusting and immoral, and, like I said, I bet it would be considered illegal for almost anyone else to say something like that.

KMac was just responding to someone else’s assertion regarding what whites know about racism coming from blacks. I think we’re all aware racism cuts both ways, and really, it’s not even proper to say “cuts both ways”, because we are all of the human race. Racism is simply stupid. I’m sick of the subject, but it seems to be an ever present topic of discussion. Almost everywhere I look and everything I read is suddenly about race. They call Muslims a race, when it’s a religion. They even have some thing in England where they claim babies are showing racist tendencies if they say “yuk” to foreign foods. I think it’s the postmodernist agenda at work. Everything is about environmentalism and racism.
Universities have been working for decades to foist this stuff on society. They have worked extremely hard and with all of the brain power they could muster to spread their goofy ideas and continue to do so to this day at all levels of education. So, we’re seeing the fruits of their labors.
The good news is that Objectivism is impervious to it all.

You certainly won’t see it out in the open or around the water cooler, unless it’s by Rush Limbaugh or someone to that effect, because whites are so paranoid about being labeled a racist.

The bravest and most honest people I know on this subject are maybe AM-radio talk-show hosts. And they’re almost universally derided and hated as “racists” by vast segments. There’s simply no analogue to black leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Maybe 100 years ago – but not today. Blacks are routinely praised, in society and respectable circles, as being superior to whites, personally and culturally. And this supposed racial superiority has been written into law – especially regarding education and vocation – for over 40 years.

The talking heads came out in droves on the cable chanels, hoping to see her career ruined. They don’t seem to have the same reaction to Jackson’s comment.

There are lots of stories like that. I remember a baseball color guy for some California team (former player) a couple of years ago making a harmless joke about Lou Piniella being Hispanic and one person in his large radio audience complained, so he gets fired. These are the kinds of jokes baseball players play on each other all of the time. Makes things fun. But, with politically correct zealots growing in influence, suddenly an innocent joke becomes a high crime. I remember him on Mike & Mike in the Morning ESPN radio show after the event and they treated him like a pariah. It was beyond ridiculous. Actually, I think sports are where racism is most pervasive among the media. They drench everything in political correctness to the nth degree. This is a big reason I don’t listen to sports any more.
What’s need is a few more Ezra Levants who know how to stand up for themselves righteously and effectively.

Do you think Jackson is some sort of amateur when it comes to manipulating the media? You think, yowza, he done plum forget what a microphone do? You think he can’t hatch a simple ruse to put Obama in a better light with the anti-Jesse crowd (i.e., most of white America).
No, I don’t think he is the type of guy to hatch something like this and it looks like him and Obama’s relationship has been going sour for awhile now.
Think about the nuance in the message:
“Barack’s been talking down to black people and I wanna cut his nuts off.”
Shows that Jackson cares about black people’s dignity.
Portrays Obama as a legitimate black man using the starkest racial terms.
Tells whites that Obama is not a typical black leader.
Most importantly, draws attention to what Obama said that drew Jackson’s ire: That black men are acting like boys. Great for Obama’s standing with conservatives.
Intentional or not, I don’t think it will do even make a marginal difference in the way conversatives or white people (because the too are pratically interchangeable sometimes) view Obama. And that’s a huge gamble as well, it looks like he is getting beat up for it already. And it didn’t appear to rally white people at all. I’m not seeing any “WHITE PEOPLE SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA BECAUSE JESSE JACKSON DONT LIKE HIM!”-bumper stickers.

That study didn’t say that blacks were superior just because they are black in anyway at all. It was used to find out more about racism in the job market.
It was unclear in this study how broadly they chose the places to be applied to. It doesn’t specify but from the examples used, it appears that they chose only small, private sector jobs and primarily those dealing with the public(sales, wait staff, etc.)
First, if they chose public sector jobs(a major part of our economy, so to speak), as well as larger corporations which receive subsidies for maintaining ethnic diversity, I’d wager that they would find a severe reversal of that trend. Second, businesses that cater to the public will very often choose sales people to match their usual clients in the same way that Ebony Magazine usually picks black models for their cover. Third, the study did not specify if the jobs were in particular ethnic neighborhoods or not. I assume not since I am pretty confident that if they were applying to black owned businesses in predominantly black neighborhoods the results would be different. Further, if they had applied to jobs in manufacturing or construction, likewise, the results would change. Probably with a preference toward Hispanic workers.
I hate these sorts of studies because they are so easy to manipulate with subtle alterations all while maintaining the appearance of objectivity.

We’re going to have to disagree on this one. I don’t believe Jackson has the luxury of distancing himself from the first black President. An Obama Presidency will change everything for the black rights industry in America.
You’re also assuming that the whole split between Obama and Jackson hasn’t been orchestrated to give Obama breathing room with the anti-Jackson (et ilk) segment of America.

If thats the case, Jackson needs a whole new staff. He hasnt fooled anyone in more than 20 years. People know exactly what Jackson is and that is why Obama has to keep his distance. Personally, I think if this was an planned event, it wasnt very bright. Jacksons face–or Sharptons, for that matter-- popping up during this campaign can only help remind people that they are still out there and are four-square behind Obama. Despite any minor differences, Jackson will probably demand some sort of special access to a President Obama. One more reason not to vote for Obama–if you needed one.

I’ve worked at a number of large companies over the years and I currently have several of them as clients. Every single one of them bends over backwards to find, hire and retain minority workers. I have a very skeptical view of studies like the one you cite. As aequalsa said, they are easy to manipulate. Furthermore, when these studies are done by individuals and organizations that appear to have an agenda, they have even less credibility for me.
