New to video game programming (Interested)...

I am interested in learning how to program video games, but have no idea of which programming language to start with to create a game. Need advice…?

Do you know any programming languages already? A simple game can be done in any of the common languages:VB, C, C++, C#, Java. So, if you already know one of those, it’s probably best to use that. Since it’s your first game, it would make sense to start with something really simple, along the lines of an old arcade game, and use that experience as a basis for figuring out what you can do and want to do.

There’s one language that’s hardly used at all, but it has some features specifically for games. It’s really obscure, and the only reason I heard of it was because it’s taught by some summer camps. It’s called Kids Programming Language (KPL); but, don’t let the name fool you, it’s pretty full-featured. The best part is that it comes with a whole lot of sample game programs, so one can learn by example.

You might want to consider learning C#, that way you can use Microsofts XNA game development tools, there is even a free version, XNA Express ( I am not sure when the commercial version is out, I have not been following that too closely lately). Get the C# Express program for really easy devolpment, including vast help libaries (MSDN libaries)
