In Lithuania, the tax from all purchases is 18%, except for medicine(3%) and books(5%). Not to mention 30% tax from your salary to the state, and 3% tax from your salary to your social insurance, so you will get 200$ a month to stay alive then you get too old or too weak to work. And, businessmen have another privilege - a yearly tax of property - that’s 1% of the value you or your company’s commercial property.
Politicians, not Capitalism gets the blame, but ‘The wave of Communism’ is still near by providing every citizen the minimum standard of living.
But hey, Lithuania’s the 30th best country to make your business in! At least before they nationalize all of your property. If it is very good and expensive, they will do it twice 
“Mazeikiu Nafta” is a good example.
And our life is pretty cool. Medium salary of 1000$ a month is pretty good for everyone, isn’t it? Plus the ‘letter money’* of course.

*‘letter money’ is illegal part of the payment, cash put in envelopes and given to people. We call in ‘black money’ or ‘letter money’. Employers of most of the Lithuanian firms often do that.

Unbridled capitalism? Has such a thing even come close to existing in the Uk in the last 100 years? When is someone over there going to put a bridle on the socialist horse?

Thats not enough of a salvation. and believe it or not, there are plenty of employers giving “letter money” here too. there will be as long as they keep taxing businesses no matter how little. if it costs money to have a business, there will be “black money”. it’ll stop when income taxes are abolished.
