J’ever notice how we keep hearing about an “infrastructure crisis”? This crisis has been a crisis for the last 35 years. One is tempted to say “Awright awready! will you just crash and get it over with. The suspense is killin’ me!” And we’ve been hearing this from the same liberal clack that’s been peddling the eco-BS or their allies. What’s it all about Alfie (E. Neuman)? Now you’ve got the feds throwing billions into this mess. Why?
Well, who will will hire out the work for these projects, private or government entities? Will the work go to union (14% of the labor force) or non-union (the other 86%)? Beyond that, How does that help the job loss situation in retail, finance and home building where the bulk of the job loss has occurred?
Sniff sniff, do I smell corruption?
To help sell this line of BS, we are told about “shovel ready” projects. Now be honest with me unless you want to roll the dice on the question of my IQ being larger than my shoe size. Have you ever heard of a government project that was on time and on budget. Does 'Big Dig" do anything for you?
Here’s what has to happen
The job has to go in the queue.
It has to be bid on. or are the same people who were crybabying about the Haliberton no-bid contracts going to do a dozen Halibertons of their own?
The paperwork has to go through the turlespeed mill. I wonder if these folks will be required to file the dreaded Environmental Impact Statements like the rest of us.
Whadaya think, some time next year? Say August after all the wrangling and stuff.
Then comes beureaucratic bloat. The Big Dig was started at a svelte $G9 and bloated to at least $G14 and it still isn’t right. after more than a decade and a half.
Now for those of you in Rio Linda. the possibilities for corruption and cronyism just cry out for creative administration. Don’t you think. Frisco D’Ancona could have a field day with this one. and there’s over $G150 loaves and fishes about to rain down from the sky.
Or is this just me?
