Sort of like how America is currently fighting it (under Bush)in, for example, Najaf, because we don’t want to offend Muqtada al-Sadr (who has vowed to fight America until the last drop of his blood is spilled–if only we would take him up on that)?

You haven’t a clue as to how a Kerry administration would fight this war, now, do you?
And how about how the Bush administration is “fighting” this war?
For example, did you know we cannot attack mosques where the terrorists and insurgents hole up in?
Bush cannot win the war on terrorism the way his administration is fighting it. He’s too concerned about killing innocents and sparing the lives of those who enable the enemy. He wants us to look like the good, merciful guys under the eyes of God. So his religious views cloud his sense of justice big-time.

If he wants us to look like the good merciful guys under the eyes of God, it follows that we would not be doing anything to fight the war on terrorism, re: via turning the other cheek. We would send missionaries over, not abrahms tanks and apache hellicopters…

America has caused such weaponry to be aimed at specific targets which it is felt would take out the enemy. America is assuming that the enemy is an isolated few gangs who should be captured and tried somewhere- or else we wait until they strike, then if we survive the attack, we fight back. So it is that America considers the mosque to be a neutral, sacred ground that is not to be touched, even though it harbors and provides sanctuary for murderers, criminals, and terrorists.
America is afraid that if we storm the mosques, killing some women and children as well as cold-blooded insurgent killers, that we will be looked upon as evil. Bush’s position appears to support this strategy.
As I said, there is no way America can win the war on terrorism if we insist that we spare the sanctuaries of the criminals, allowing them to re-arm and kill our soldiers.
The Truman administration didn’t fight the Japanese in this manner during WW2. Iraq and Afghanistan are rogue states which sponsor terrorism. Why not fight a war against them to win, to coerce surrender, to replace the government with one allied to our interests?
of course the grand problem is islamic extremism…but as a nation, we cannot just say we’re going to destroy that religion, or incarcerate/kill the leaders of islamic extremism. And of course we cannot declare war on the Religion of Peace (as Bush said, for misdirection). Of course, those who belong to terrorist pockets and factions also support islamic extremism. I think we’re kinda trying to hit two birds with one stone…

I think we have ample evidence on how John Kerry would fight terrorism…only with the backing of the entire world, dictators and all, and not before then.
