Web-links to help a newbie to understand O'ism?

Questions about Objectivism
1

I’ve been talking with someone on another BBS who is losing ‘faith’ with the Left and is interested in discovering more about different ideologies. I’d like to provide him with a good and accurate picture of the philosophy of Objectivism but being quite new to the subject myself I can’t really explain it as well as I’d like. So I’d like some links to sites that would help someone new to the subject and relevant BBS posts and so on. I’ve already given him the link to the ‘Essentials of Objectvism’ essay.

Oh, and I think it would also help if I could provide some information on the Objectivist view of other ideologies such as fascism and socialism.

Thanks.

If he is interested and would like to peruse, check out the op eds at The Ayn Rand Institute. Also, I reccomend Socialism: Slavery vs. Freedom, Socialism: Class Warfare vs. Harmony of Interests, Socialism: Central Planning vs. Freedom, and Socialism: Inability of Economic Calculation.

I don’t know of any links that specifically cover fascism. What is BBS?

Thanks for your help. BBS is just another word of a forum, it stands for bulletin board… uh… something. :ninja:

This page on the ARI is quite useful in case you might have missed it:

http://www.aynrand.org/site/PageServer?pag…vism_essentials

5

www.whatisobjectvism.com

I introduced myself to objectivism with it.

6

The site doesn’t seem to exist, I also tried .net and .org but still nothing.

7

He made a typo in the URL. Try:

http://www.whatisobjectivism.com/

Edit: As a disclaimer, this site has a heavy TOC slant and describes ARI as the “biggest pseudo-cult.” Aside from that, its description of the basics is horrible.

Try this site, I am reading through it at the moment. It contains what isd so far quite a good introduction to Objectivism :

http://solohq.com/Objectivism101/

What Cole said about “whatisobjectivism.com” applies to solowHQ.

Yeah, after reading abit more into it, I am starting to find it is overall inadequate. It started off well though. Oh well, sorry for the not so good lead.

And its SoloHQ, not SolowHQ. And you are always complaining my typing/spelling is bad

Jingles:

Go to aynrand100.org, and there is a lecture about an introduction to Objectivism by Ayn Rand herself in audio format. There is also writing on her philosophy on the site.

And its SoloHQ, not SolowHQ.

Or, that could have been a clever statement.

Yeah I know, but I was in a strange mood at the time, it seemed a good chance to tease him about it. * shrug.
