AutoJC
Here We Go Again, Yet Another Anti-Iraq Editorial from Cato Should we cut our losses and bail out of Iraq? Was Iraq the "wrong war?" Moreover, has Iraq become another Vietnam? The editorial ignores the basic fundamental difference between the Iraq enemy and the Vietnam "enemy." In Iraq, the enemy is of the same caliber as those who attacked America on September 11th, with a similar mission. I was against the war in VietNam. I didn't see that it had anything to do with defending America's interests. To this day, I steadfastly hold to that opinion. My big problem with the Iraq war is how this country approached it- without the resolve and strategy needed to crush a very threatening enemy to the point of unconditional surrender. This, in my opinion, is the real reason we are experiencing the difficulties there.

AutoJC
sniff sniff.. Is that the Powell Doctrine I smell???? But what is the Powell Doctrine? Does Powell have any principles? I'm of the opinion that Powell is a real weakness in the current administration.
Kitty Hawk
But what is the Powell Doctrine? Does Powell have any principles? I'm of the opinion that Powell is a real weakness in the current administration. I think that is what Old Geezer was saying, AutoJC. Powell is a major part of the problem in this Administration. He's the appeaser who "balances" the aggressiveness of Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld. Unfortunately, Bush listens too much to Powell, and not enough to Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz. Strongly inclined to agree with that. The Capitalism.org pages contain scores of commentaries which pull no punches in criticizing Colin Powell.
