  1. Haha, cool. Wish I had a credit card so I could buy things offline. I also saw a "who is john galt" bumper sticker before. I did get noticed by someone in my guitar class though because I had a paperback copy of the Fountainhead in my back pocket. Don't know what I'm gonna do when I finish that and start re-reading Atlas, though. I'll have to invest in much bigger pants
  2. Friends. Primarily those of the opposite sex. However, I can't meet anyone easily when I feel depressed all the time, and the only thing that will make me less depressed is to meet people. It's what they call a Catch-22. I mean, I know I don't need other people. I got through 18 years with minimal human contact. I haven't been so much as hugged since I was 6 years old. But it's hard to see everyone else around me in big groups laughing and having fun. Why can't I have that?
  3. Well that's sort of how my life is going right now so I'm not surprised it turned out that way.
  4. I think I have a serious problem being confident with myself. I don't have a single reason to feel unconfident, really. I'm the best classical guitarist in my grade, I'm in good shape, I get good grades, but it's very rare that I feel good about myself. It's terrible.
  5. I'm sorry to hear that. But look at it this way, at least you can respect the woman he's chosen, right? It would be a million times worse if he had fallen for someone who was utter garbage. Just take this as a lesson learned and be sure to be a little more direct when you meet an equal or greater man. Which you will, I'm sure.
  6. I suppose that's a good point. Since Objectivism is the philosophy of true individuals, each person would theoretically have to have their own symbol. Still, it would be nice if Rand fans could recognize each other off the street or something.
  7. I'm afraid not, because I'm rather unhappy right now.
  8. Sorry if this has been done before, but to anyone's knowledge is there an official Objectivist symbol or logo?
  9. I made this on a MIDI music composition program. It sort of represents, to me, the struggle and lamentations of the modern intellectual in our increasingly anti-mind society. Check it out and let me know what you think. It's only 3 minutes long but I worked for hours to create it. http://media.putfile.com/composition-
  10. I'm a big fan of Progressive music. Bands like King Crimson, Rush, Dream Theater, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Oceansize, Rosetta, Mastodon, Pelican, and OSI. These bands are incredibly unique and talented and really should be on everyone's iPods.
  11. That's one of my favorite Crossfire debates . I think he was an incredible musician and a true intellectual. He knew what he believed in and he stood by it. He's one of my guitar idols because of his innovative style and the dedication he had to the instrument.
  12. That's awesome. It sort of reminds me of the Opeth logo.
  13. Hi, I'd just like to introduce myself. My name is Todd, I'm an 18-year old music student and avid Objectivist. I used to be a blind, socialist tool who wasn't happy unless he was suffering. Ayn Rand showed me the error of my ways and I've never been happier than the day after I finished Atlas Shrugged. My interests include music, philosophy, nature, art, literature, physical fitness, science, politics, and history. I'm a classical guitarist who plans on making a name for myself in the music world. Right now my biggest concern is how difficult it is to meet like-minded people in my area, especially those of the opposite sex. I hope to meet lots of cool people on this forum.
