  1. I am a hooligan rider at heart and am not sure how I would fare on big ole' beast like yours! I can bet ya when the missus wants to stop two upping on the back of a little Triumph triple I will be pm'ing you about you experience on the bike. I kinda enjoy those long rides where you feek every little bump and rut in the road. Then again I teach Krav Maga, sooooo maybe there is a little masochist in me!! All in all you are going to have the time of your life on her, cheers!

  2. I hate to burst your bubble on this one Sophia, I know Fabian and his publishing house. He only paints about ten percent of each painting and then has other artists finish the work. I find this practice all to common in the art world, it makes me feel a little ill every time I hear about it. I found the work pleasing to look at until I knew who was painting (or not painting) the work. Now he has fallen into ranks of hack as far as I am concerned. And West, you saw somebody's originals! Who knows who painted them.

  3. I will be quite blunt about this.

    1. Jesus taught that the universere was not real.

    2. Jesus taught that the you as a man could not know the universe.

    3. Jesus taught that man should sacrifice himself unto others.

    4. Jesus believed that men should be governed not by natures laws, but gods. His god.

Knowing all these things, and knowing how false each idea is false why make such a deal? Being raised by a deacon I can

assure you that there was plenty of historical data for the argument that indeed Jesus did exist. As to whether or not anyone

    witnessed miracles.......

I know many people who try and convince me of the exisence of these miracles. Historical and contemporary, I do not know what these individuals have seen. I do know what they have NOT seen. What exactly do you hope to gain from this endeavor?

A better understanding of the life of Jesus? Christian history? The chance to give someone worthy the opportunity to step outside of their limited understanding of the nature of man and the universe? I am just curious. ( I hand out Rand books to just about anybody with a pulse and the ability to comprehend something is wrong in the world!)

  4. Thanks for the heads up. I am new to recreational technology use in general and this looks like an outstanding product for the amount of reading that I engage in! I am placing an order as as well. Never having used anything remotley similiar to this I have no comparison so I will probably love it! :(

  5. I am a native Houstonian. The rock gym is right down the street from where I live and there are some great trails for mountain biking and running. Memorial Park used to be a WW2 traing ground and is quite hilly for being in this region. As far as music and entertainment what do you enjoy? And as to K-Macs' remark...... I have never socialised with local Objectivists though I have attended a Bernstein lecture at U of H and found the folks there not to my taste. (Sorry) This is the first time since I was eight-teen that I have gone out of my way to communicate with other Objectivists. I love the city and the economy keeps me here.

  6. I've concluded (no pun intended) that the fundamental issue for the next election is stopping the intrusion of religion into government
    .

I could'nt agree more. I have run my businesses in Houston, and to be more specific, in deep babtist territory. Dr. Ed Young of Houston's Second Baptist church was a framing client of mine! I have had conversations at the corner Starbucks

with religous men of such political pull it took alot of self restraint not to verbally blast them.( My business would have greatly suffered had I done so.) All I could do was try my best to persuade them to understand how much the legislation hurt those who did not share thier religous beliefs. Response......." well everyone I know is christian." Fighting this type of mentality on a state level is really frustrating at times.

Is it more likely that a religious fundamentalist president will nominate the man who forms the hardcore majority that does this, than that e.g. Obama will nominate a property-socialist who will tilt the vote on the court in such a way that... well, I'm not sure what the concrete threat on the left will be.

Which is why I have in the past I have waited until almost the last minute to make any decision.

  7. Voting for any candidate who is NOT republican in my states general election is usualy ignored. The state Texas electoral college is heavily weighed with republicans, and having spoken with my representatives personaly they will continue the

trend of voting republican in January. Any time I have had these individuals to myself it was like pulling teeth to get any

answers out them! From their ideas on taxes to privatising construction on a local highway expansion. All of my local representation is republican, and on top of that, baptist republican. I have voted almost every election in the last six years

in the hopes of getting this group knocked off thier seats. Until this happens I can vote any way I like and the result will be

    the same for my state........REPUBLICAN.

By the way I can't stand any of the candidates. It has been fun reading how other Objectivists weigh in on this election.

  8. Are you really that shallow?

    You insult me?

Step outside your (if you have it) disdain for athletes or any other group Michael Vick is a part of , and reason.

You insult me again and insinuate race once more.My part in this discussion with you is over.

  9. The whole discussion revolved around the fuller context.

The context was "moral outrage", which is not shared by me. Vick KNOWINGLY broke law, he was aware of the consequences

of that law. Hence, no moral outrage from me. Should he be allowed to fight dogs? Sure so should I. But I am not. If I did and was caught doing so would I go to jail? Yes. I would not feel outraged even if I was the one doing time.

  10. To begin I would first like to say to you that my intent when posting this thread was to discuss the utter contempt that I have at yet another example of the United States of America violating its very founding principles. In this instance the right to property. However, the discussion did no go as I would have hoped to expect, where I admit to "jumping the gun" a bit when I labeled a certain bit of evasion "racist".

    Claiming,

The laws are immoral, and to equate Michael Vick to a drug dealer or pimp is a racist evasion

Then on the other hand you claim that "successful businessmen" are exempt from this "standard"... tuck your sheet in, it's starting to come out from under your clothes.

are far from "jumping the gun a bit".

I have no concrete proof of what I still believe to be an accurate assessment, which means that I should have simply kept my thoughts to myself at that point.

    Then please do so.

  11. The laws are immoral, and to equate Michael Vick to a drug dealer or pimp is a racist evasion.

The right to one's self and property are absolutes. "The Wall" needs a little maintenance work done on it, you yourself shyly admit. - BIG PROPBLEM. You seem to be a bit biased against athletes or entertainers... maybe?

I have noticed this in another thread as well. What is the proper repsonse to the improper use of race

in a discussion? Call it out, let it go, or what?

  12. Then on the other hand you claim that "successful businessmen" are exempt from this "standard"... tuck your sheet in, it's starting to come out from under your clothes.

Are we discussing Vicks dogfighting ring or his race?

  13. I am always jumping from idea to idea in my mind, making the connections actually gear me up to levels that I do not not find enjoyable. I agree that it it not always pleasant to slow down your nervous center, but there are times when I find it impossible to slow it down to a relaxing level. Alcohol aids in this function, and I prefer a beer or a martini to xanex. I am still fully capable of dealing with any abstractions I need to handle after a couple of drinks. I would never endorse becoming so intoxicated one cannot function.
