    Paul Gilbert

I've really gotten into Paul Gilbert's music after being impressed by his performance at the G3 concert last year. His playing was masterful and he had a great ego and old fashioned flair for showmanship. I especially enjoy his two instrumental records. My favorite instrumental tracks of his include Eudaimonia Overture, Get Out Of My Yard, Hurry Up, and The Rhino. From Paul's pop records I enjoy the tunes My Religion and Space Ship One. An added bonus is that Paul is a fan of Ayn Rand and says he's been influenced by her philosophy. I've read a few interviews in which he encourages people to read Miss Rand's books but Paul never aggressively preaches to his fans.
  2. It's really disgusting that Jeremiah Wright thinks blacks are inferior. I can't imagine why anyone would look up to him.
  3. There are certainly a lot of people who will never be convinced. The Ayn Rand Institute spends its resources getting books to students and training new intellectuals for teaching jobs. The goal is to reach young minds before they become too entrenched in the other belief systems you mentioned. It's a slow process but it will work in the long run.
  4. The requirements for survival are the same for everyone. The Objectivist ethics and politics are derived from the nature of man and his requirements for survival as a rational being.
  5. The Founding Fathers of the Unites States were brilliant but they made the mistake of saying individual rights are God given. They didn't offer any reality based justification for them. That left the most benevolent country on earth vulnerable to statism. The Libertarians claim they support liberty but they completely dispense with philosophy and offer no justification for anything. They want freedom because they want it. That makes them very dangerous to liberty.
  6. Hello, I've read this forum for quite a while and I finally decided to register. I'm not an expert or professional intellectual and don't claim to speak for Objectivism. I am a layman who agrees with Objectivism and I'm very proud to help financially support ARI. I'm sure there are still many things I have to learn.
