  1. Are you taking into account that many of these "babies" (they were), weren't either dead already or horribly deformed? By the way, his murderer should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Just because I think the guy who got killed was a dirtball doesn't make his murderer any less a murderer, and doesn't mean that I believe any less in the rule of law.
  2. The creators/tyrants/enforcers you're talking about are people using force to implement the tyrannical philosophies of the ideologues that the original poster wants to bump off. One is using force to extinguish liberty, the other is having 'dangerous thoughts'. Kill tyrants using force to enslave = good. Kill jerk coming up with lousy philosophy = not good. The inquisition, here we go! The inquisition, what a show! I know you're wishin' that we'd go awaaaay! But the Inquisition's here and it's here to stay! The inquisition, oh boy! The inquisition, joy joy! The inquisition, oy! oy! Can't get that song out of my head for 3 damned days now.
  3. In fairness to Ann Coulter (Can't believe I'm defending her), she was making a play on moral relativity. An argument that pro-abortionists use is "If you don't believe in abortion, then don't have an abortion." Her statement: "If you don't believe in killing abortionists then don't kill abortionists.", was simply a play on that argument. On a personal note, I have a really hard time drumming up any sympathy for this guy. The things he did to babies in the third trimester I wouldn't even consider doing to a cockroach.

    Regret

I knew an NCO once in a unit I was with in Korea. He was a forward observer like me, and the guy was a walking technical manual. He knew everything about there was to know about combined arms support, he was constantly studying. At the same time, he was extremely effective at passing on what he knew to his subordinates and peers, and if you needed something done, he's tell you 5 different ways you could do it. He was a rare combination of book and street smarts. Then one day, he flipped out on his immediate supervisor, a lieutenant, offering to take him out into the woods and kick his ass (Can't even remember what the argument was about). So he gets punished, doesn't get promoted. He goes to a different duty station, and his old Sergeant Major calls his new SGM and tells him "what an insubordinate shitbag" he was, and so he gets thrown out of the promotion board and doesn't get promoted, again. Keep in mind this is 2 years later. Now it's been 5 years, and he's still exactly the same rank he was before, because he was not forgiven for the one screwup he ever made. Don't you think he's learned his lesson? Do you think that he would ever do what he did again? Don't you think it's time that this guy be forgiven, and should he not be, what incentive will he ever have to apply himself again? Finally, is it to the Army's benefit to continue to hold this guy back? None of us is perfect, we all make mistakes and do things we regret. At the point that we acknowledge our mistake, learn from it, and resolve not to do it again, we grow and become something different than we were before. Knowing that, we are right in asking forgiveness, and it is proper to forgive someone who is sincerely repentant of his mistakes and has learned from them.
  5. It's not rape if you yell 'surprise' first.
  6. Yes! Time to bring back the good old days boys and girls! Time to dust off the old tongs and pinchers! Think of all the souls I could save if I just removed a few unsavory characters from the world! I'm feelin it! Are you feelin it? It's time to bring back... The Inquisition! If it becomes standard practice to whack people who have 'dangerous ideas', then I'm afraid everyone in this board, including me, is in for it.
  7. Since you liked that... Watch these in order . http://www.nightwalkers.be/files/thekiller8/ep1.swf http://www.nightwalkers.be/files/thekiller8/ep2.swf http://www.nightwalkers.be/files/thekiller8/ep7.swf
  8. This thread is dead but I'll toss in my 2 cents anyways... I read the unabridged version of this book in highschool, and I was hooked almost immediately. This book is an awesome tale of redemption. The Jean Valjean stood over the sleeping body of the priest who had taken him in, a candlestick in his hand, ready to smash the priest's head in with it so that he could continue looting the church. At that point the realization of where the path he was going down would end set in, and he couldn't go through with the act, knowing that that final act of violence would be the end of him just as surely as it would be the end of the priest. The book was filled with wonderful scenes like that, many of them heartbreaking. This is a book that everyone should read once in their lives.
  9. I'm taking a bit of a break from it now, but I'm a big fan of this game. I've been playing since 2005 and I keep coming back to it. There's always something new to figure out, something new to work towards, and the teamwork required for certain things can be truly intense. Starting out in the game can be a horrible chore, but once you get into the swing of things, it's totally worth it. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3088/233501..._6003c39c4c.jpg This picture says it all.
  10. Just found this little gem. After minute two I couldn't stop laughing at the smackdown that ensued.
  11. At least some of the protests were chanting "Death to Khomeini". That's always a good sign.
  12. No it doesn't. The Iranian government is going to blame us for any unrest anyway. Hell they're doing it right now, calling on us to 'Stop meddling" etc, etc. The US and Israel get the blame for everything that goes wrong in every country in the middle east. It's one of the main points of demagoguery to keep the mobs in line.
  13. Agreed. The Iranian people need to do it themselves, but there's no reason we can't help them out in terms of training, money, and weaponry. Turnabout's fair play
  14. Due process? This isn't a criminal situation. Someone didn't get busted on a street corner for handing out crack. They were shooting at US troops, or blowing up a marketplace, or making IEDs. They were NOT fighting war according the the rules of war outlined in the Geneva Conventions, so therefore they have no rights under those conventions. US Soldiers don't walk around taking witness statements while being followed around with forensic teams. If these guys are given a civilian trial, any civilian lawyer worth his salt can get them off. Therefore we have 3 choices. a. Lock them up b. Shoot them c. Let them go
  15. Though I'm not in favor of sending in US troops, I'll go ahead and argue that it may be in our interest to do so. The Iranian government is not only a supporter of terrorism in Lebanon and Gaza, but also has American blood on its hands by supplying the Iraqi insurgency with Explosively Formed Projectile (EFPs), which are an advanced form of IEDs, that punch through armored American vehicles. They've also supplied the insurgency with money and training, and are a big reason why the country hasn't been secured yet. A sane Iranian government would GREATLY benefit the US both in terms of lives and treasure.
  16. They will lose. I'll start thinking they'll win when they start killing off their government's leaders, but right now the streets are running red with the blood of the patriots, not the tyrants. I'm not saying I'm not fully behind them, but I don't think they stand a chance right now.
  17. Thank you for your service: Return safe and sound

  18. http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/91.htm Please read Article 4 of the Geneva Convention where it outlines exactly who gains protected status as a Prisoner of War under the convention. I keep hearing people claim that the US is acting in violation of the Geneva Convention but these insurgents or terrorists or Agents of Man-Made Disasters or whatever we're supposed to call them this month aren't covered. In any other war in the last century they'd have been lined up against the nearest wall and shot.
  19. •Two of the beneficiaries will be the Roman Catholic and Orthodox communions. Evangelicals have been entering these churches in recent decades and that trend will continue, with more efforts aimed at the "conversion" of Evangelicals to the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. Hah! Fate worse than death as far as those guys are concerned. They hate Catholics even more than you guys do.

    Regret

Can you make amends and ask for forgiveness? It's worth the attempt. Much of the damage we cause other people isn't just the harm itself, but the feeling we leave that we've betrayed someone's trust and that we cared nothing for those we hurt that causes the harm to linger. You know that the damage is continuing and it's that knowledge that makes it hard for you to forgive yourself right now. Ask for those you harmed to forgive you, and their hurt will go away, and yours.
  21. Do it. It's a solid achievement and you'll regret it if you don't. You'll be truly fortunate in life if you're never in an organization that you don't have some kind of issue with. No other person, much less group of people, will ever perfectly reflect your attitudes and worldviews.

  23. I'm afraid your totally right Sanj. And the truly tragic thing is that 'Free market capitalism' is catching the blame for the recent economic meltdown, when it was government interference that caused it, and people are too duped to realize it.
