dianahsieh
I wanted to let folks here know about three Objectivism-related projects that I've launched this fall: (1) Last week, Front Range Objectivism launched its two Atlas Shrugged Reading Groups in Longmont and Colorado Springs. These groups will meet for twenty sessions this fall and spring. This project is my baby, and I'm super-pleased with the results so far. You can read the full report on my blog NoodleFood: http://www.dianahsieh.com/blog/2009/10/rep...ng-groups.shtml (2) I want to see such Atlas Shrugged Reading Groups popping up across the country. I know lots of people capable of doing that, but they need a template and resources. To that end, I've launched a web site: Explore Atlas Shrugged. For each of the twenty sessions of the AS Reading Group, I'm posting the discussion questions and a podcast discussion of the relevant chunk of the novel. In the podcast, I review the noteworthy characters, events, and ideas from that session's reading. You can find that here: http://www.ExploreAtlasShrugged.com The discussion questions for and podcast commentary on the novel will also be helpful to anyone interested in studying Atlas Shrugged in greater depth on their own. (3) I've begun podcasting. My podcast is called "Rationally Selfish Radio": http://www.RationallySelfish.com/radio/ In addition to the Atlas Shrugged podcasts, I'm podcasting on (1) practical ethics advice based on e-mailed questions and (2) topics that I've taught in my introductory philosophy classes (right now, arguments for the existence of God, later ethical theory). I welcome questions on practical ethics for the podcast; just e-mail them to me: [email protected]. (Please do not use OO.net's private messenger. I hate using outside systems for e-mail.) iamjohngalt
I'm delighted to hear and observe your new projects. There is some interest in an Atlas Shrugged discussion group where I live in Pennsylvania, outside of Wilmington, DE. Mark
