BrendanR
For the longest time I've been feeling guilty that I've not accomplished as much as any of the heroes in Atlas. I asked questions about it, looked for ways to accomplish more etc etc. It's difficult to be a capatilist in the world today, not impossible, just difficult. After reading the sentence below I find that I don't have to push so hard to accomplish, that accomplishment is a by product of reason and the definition of a hero is well... read the sentence below. Source: Who is Ayn Rand An unreserved commitment to reason and the acceptance of reality as an absolute are the hallmark of the Ayn Rand hero. He is the man who holds nothing above the rational judgment of his mind, neither wishes nor whims nor the unproved assertions of others. He is not the man without desires; he is the man who has no desires held in defiance of reason. He is not the man without emotions; he is the man who does not substitute his emotions for his mind. He is not the man without passions; he is the man without arbitrary whims. He is not the man without the capacity to feel; he is the man with the highest capacity for feelings, because his feelings are the product of rational, non-contradictory values. Fantastic, just fantastic.
softwareNerd
Welcome to the forum. Interesting topic. ... accomplishment is a by product of reason and the definition of a hero is well... read the sentence below.I'm not sure how you relate the quote to the topic. I understand the idea that one must use reason and desire that which is not in defiance of reason. How does that tie into accomplishments?
