dizm
I like much of what Richard Dawkins writes about, but I do wish he would discover Ayn Rand's fundamental idea that man is born without instincts and bases decisions on a philosophy. All the questions asked in this video are answered very well by objectivist philosophy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9HtY1chchM&NR
BrassDragon
Good video, but not one of Dawkins's best showings, mainly because the other people tended to say impossibly stupid things.
aleph_0
There is a topic on this site about instincts, and as we have investigated it, it is not at all clear that man really has no instincts. I am ambivalent about the subject.
BrassDragon
There is a topic on this site about instincts, and as we have investigated it, it is not at all clear that man really has no instincts. I am ambivalent about the subject. Likewise, I haven't seen Dawkins make a positive claim in favor of instincts (or against man basing his decisions on philosophy). It'd be nice if somebody could link to a video or other resource where he discusses the topic (it's not covered in this video).
