On 20 August 2026 Objectivism Online moved off Invision and onto Discourse. The address did not change and neither did the archive.
What came across:
every account, with its username
every topic and post, back to 2003
private messages
old links, which redirect to the same content on the new software
What did not come across: passwords. Forum software stores them in a form that cannot be converted between platforms, so there was no way to bring them. Everyone who wants to log in has to set a new password once.
That is why some of you are getting an email from this forum saying “set a password” when you never asked for one. It is not a phishing attempt and it is not a sign that anyone tried to break into your account. It goes out to accounts that have been here since the old software and have no password on the new one.
If you would rather not use the link in the email, you can start a reset yourself from the login form on this site.
If you do nothing, nothing is lost. Your account and your posts stay exactly where they are.
Replies here are welcome, including “this looks broken” reports.
This was intentional. I don’t think it makes sense to import all posts from a single blog.
This feature was added as the “Objectivist Meta Blog” when there were over a dozen active blogs, but Gus is now the only remaining writer publishing daily.
Thanks for the heads up on the migration to Discourse! Glad to see all the historical posts and accounts came over smoothly. Just reset my password and everything is working nicely. Appreciate all the hard work behind the scenes to make the transition smooth!
