Democrats' new plan: The Total State

The October 30, 2007 Democratic Presidential debate revealed the ideological direction modern democrats want to bring America: an unmitigated collectivism.

They, democratic presidential candidates, want to seize children at the age of two for state indoctrination for a minimum of sixteen years. They want to lock them into social security. They want to provide citizens with all their needs, e.g., bank accounts, healthcare, housing, college, retirement. And the only thing they require of citizens is sacrifice: the sacrifice of each citizen’s ability to think independently, live independently, earn financial and material wealth – and keep that earned wealth.

This direction democratic presidential candidates want to take America is new to just about everyone…except Plato.

But not even Plato could have foreseen modern democrats’ willingness to protect Iran’s total-terror regime. The democratic presidential candidates said on MSNBC last night that they want to pass legislation that would prohibit Bush from attacking Iran. Worse still, they want to offer Iranian mullahs incentive packages along with diplomacy.

This, then, is the party that wants to erect a Total State at home while preserving a Total Terror State abroad.

I do see the tag.

I think the Religious Right™ is about to break with the Republican party. If Rudy gets nominated it becomes more certain. If he wins the presidency, it is all but assured.

The Religious Right© is drifting ever more to altruism and self-sacrifice in government, with all that entails for the idea of small government and liberty. That is where their philosophy leads, so it’s no surprise seeing them go there. But as they move further in that direction they are also more likely to establish the basis of a Christian theocracy. I doubt they want a theocracy now, at least not most of them. But that is also where their philosophy leads.

If a break is imminent, then the best thing we could do is help it along. If it isn’t, we should find ways to help bring it about.

I don’t think a Republican party that is a weak defender of free markets and limited government would do all that it needs to do, but it would be better than a party trying to out-left the left. And perhaps such a party would prove more amenable to the sound philosophical ideas it really needs.

Given that the Democrats have a majority in the House and are on the rise in the Senate, the strategy for this coming election cycle will probably be to vote for secular Republicans.

The two evils just keep on getting eviler.
