Just saying hello!

Hi, I’m James, I’m 23 and from the United Kingdom. I’ve read all of Rand’s fiction work and a couple of non-fiction books but that was years ago and I’m going to re-read them when I have time. I’m not an Objectivist because I haven’t read enough about it or about philosophy in general but I intend to remedy that soon. My purpose here is to ask any questions which occur to me in my study of Objectivism. I think that’s about it, so see ya around the forum!

Fan of Desmond Morris too?

His book didn’t occur to me when I signed up, I just quickly typed in a random, cool sounding name.

Welcome to OO.net

Welcome  How did you first hear about/encounter Ayn Rand?

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome.

Don’t forget the chatroom on the top right is also a good place to get quick questions answered. Most people are in there mid afternoon to midnight, depends on the day though.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I first heard about her on the ‘libertarian right’ reading list of the Political Compass website. After reading the quote, titles and descriptions of her books on that page I remember remarking in disgust “How can anyone think that?” But my curiosity and probably a little adolescent rebelliousness got the better of me and I bought ‘the Virtue of Selfishness’ which totally blew my mind.

Welcome.
