The more I read the more I feel like it's not about the computer.
You have a point.

So, let me get this straight . . . you're mad because she "demanded" that you help her for free . . . but you basically forced your services down her throat? What the heck?
I don't think your friend is the one evidencing a lack of respect and goodwill, here.
I didnt force anything down her throat at all, can you point to where I said this in my posts?
-I just asked for a few $ for gas to get to her house and was told no, I never proposed doing the job for her for money.
You do not know the whole situation, I have known this person 20 years, and I object to you casting aspersions on my character without said information.

So, look at *your* life and ask yourself, "what do I always find myself doing?" What *thing* do you always find yourself coming back to no matter how many times you may have put it down? Is it digging around in a garden? Driving a car? Swimming? Wiring up little gadgets? Going to the top of skyscrapers?
THIS is great advice-I knew I read it here and it was from JMegan-it just took me 1/2 hour of searching to find it!
What I have always gone back to (well never left) is wanting to have my own small farm, not to drop out like the essay I posted awhile back, but to have more control over my own life and how I live it. I love the outdoors and gardening and stacking wood and making fires...
anyway Thanks!

I don't get why you're so angry. Friends *regularly* do things for each other to help each other save money
To be honest I got a definitely strong feeling she didnt want me touching her machine and that she thought this friend of a friend would do a better job, I am extremely capable and experienced in computers especially in hardware-so her lack of faith in my abilities smarted a bit.

GE owned the company that owned Bennigan's?
That is like Microsoft owning Applebees/ThankGodIt'sToday/RubyChilis or whatever TF they are called.
They all suck.

The Ugly Face Behind the Mask of ConsumerismFew can deny that the world as we know it is about to end with a crash.
Yet it is shocking to realize that the public today appears oblivious to the
grave circumstances which face our planet. Or do people just pretend to be
oblivious? It is becoming increasingly difficult, after all, to pretend that
there is nothing wrong with the world as we know it. Yet public casualness
about our own looming extinction is surely an intentionally cultivated
facade.
Our uncaring attitude is clearly a self induced denial of the blatant facts,
which confront every human being in one way or another, each and every day.
Among the most potent of these facts is that the human world is poised to
take a tremendous fall.a literal crashing down of all the institutions of
our day, of governments collapsing, economies falling apart, the failure of
agriculture and the ecosystems upon which it depends, mass mental disorder
and epidemic levels of cancer, wars for profit without end or sane reason,
and a whole list of other related symptoms, OF A CENTRAL AND LARGELY UNNAMED
CAUSE.
That cause is the holding of WRONG VALUES.those which destroy and degrade
life, rather than affirm and enhance it.

People have bad days. If this is inconsistent to her regular behavior, than just try to brush it aside.
If this is the way she acts, then it is unhealthy for you to keep it up.
no it is consistent
She asked for my help another time re: her computer and she hovered over me just like this time, and was surprised when I knew to do something she did not think of.
(ugh)
I could trash her further but I will not, she may be just someone I got used to and these things remind me that ultimately she wastes my time.
Thanks

Do you value her friendship? If so, for what reasons?
She is very funny, and I do think she cares about me in her own way.
-
A "friend" of mine asked me to come over to look at her computer last week it wasnt working
at all
- she inferred she
just wanted me to take a quick look and if I could do nothing, disconnect it (she didnt know how to do this she claims)
so she could take it to some pt pc tech and pay that person $100.
This annoyed the heck out of me.
I have alot of experience in hardware, networking and I have MS certifications-I did this
work
for a living for almost 10 years yet she wouldnt even offer to pay my
gas to get to her house (I asked) and she wasnt willing to give me the $100, I could tell she wanted a quick fix to save $.
I agreed to go out of "friendship"- I get there and began to run a bunch of diagnostics (which took an
hour and 20 min)
She ended up getting very impatient and said just disconnect it so I can take it to this friend of a friend-she knew she
was pushing it I could tell but DUH i did it and left.
now I am just feeling stupid and VERY ANGRY
Should I even bother talking to her about it? We have been friends forever and I am still not sure why I bother.

Media Matters has been on the attack over Michael Savage's recent comments on autism.
I don't know very much about autism but I thought I would put this up for a comments, I am hoping he doesn't get fired over this one, I do enjoy his show.
Quote and a link-Pam
Summary: On his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage claimed that autism is "[a] fraud, a racket. ... I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot.' " -
You're kidding right? The ethical evaluation of the situation and people strikes me as wholy relevant.
Ok I see that now, I was wrong in my post.
-
I agree, but if a woman of self-esteem chooses to share her body in a sexual way
ok but those 2 things dont go together, have you ever been a stripper?
I'm not talking about a whore, but a stripper; there is a difference.sure men just F you with their eyes instead of the real thing-there is not much difference.
you obviously find strippers attractive in some way - that is fine just dont try to give them as much dignity as a woman/man who tries to make a life without resorting to doing that. I admire people who try not to have to do that. Dont you?
-
breaking rocks, working a crap job, waitressing.
would you want to your "stuff" shown to a bunch of drunken patrons? i doubt it-and in this day and age men will make more money stripping for other men.
anyway
there IS a difference even if people dont want to admit it
aka, self um respect

you are still very hung up on her, enough to post here.
this whole situation is superfluous-she really doesnt care about you
what does this have to do with objectivism ?
i feel for you tho i TRULY do, and it will get better guaranteed

ok I cannot see it:
Roark stopped into a strip club after a very long day, the gyrations and raw sexuality appealed to his animal nature and pleased him.
"AH" he exclaimed, "life is good." as he tossed back a beer and a shot.
-
I find these 2 characters a bit difficult to understand-especially the fact that Roark was so involved in love and friendship with them, respectively.
They certainly were not living as Objectivists as Roark was-they didnt love or have a passion for anything it seems...
I do realize they see the greatness and heroic in people but then they do not help the heroic instead they throw garbage on it and feed the looter mentality.
Were they doing this out of disgust or hatred or love for the heroic that hurt too much to bear (this was in another thread here about Dom.)
Thank you

Starting sentence:
Many people remember their youthful passion for Ayn Rand the way they remember teen-age make-out parties. It seemed daring at the time, but now the memory of it just makes you feel queasy. -
Obama may be a dreadful socialist, but far better to look at his face for four years than "Wicked Witch" Hillary or "Grampa" McCain!
You ARE kidding right?

This has nothing to do with feminism or any ism
I tried to read
"We the Living" but it did not interest me, and I do NOT mean this with any sort of attitude, after a few pages I just did not want to continue.
I felt that way a BIT when I started Atlas way back when but the book won me over big time.
My favorite I know now is The Fountainhead, it enraptured me from the start and it still does. I am rereading it again.
It is like butter on a burn.

I have a question. If you have a contaminated tomato, wouldn't washing it take care of any problems? I mean, you've got cows crazing over there, tomatoes growing over here, it stands to reason that runoff could cause some commingling of things you don't want in your salad, so isn't that why you're supposed to wash produce and fruit? Is the toxic stuff down in the tomato, or just sitting on the outside and some gross people aren't cleaning (or cooking, in the case of meats) their food properly??
If the plant was grown in contaminated soil I think it would be all through the plant and it's fruit, but I am not a botanist.

how embarrassing, I actually was so taken with this whole ideology.
Anyone else sometimes feel embarrassed about the ideas they were so excited about in their past?
