Forum Rule Against Excess Sarcasm
Phil Elmore replied to BurgessLau's topic in Website Policy and Announcements
Oh, like this is a useful topic. <-- shamelessly joking sarcasm -
I'm sorry; I missed this forum before and should have introduced myself. I'm Phil Elmore; I'm fairly well traveled on the Web in martial arts and self-defense circles and I've written a few crossover pieces you may or may not have seen (among them an often-quoted Field Guide to Trolls. I write for a living (technical writing for a large consulting firm) and also as a hobby; I do freelance work and publish a book every now and then when I get around to it. I discovered Objectivism through the work of pulp fiction author Jerry Ahern, one of whose characters was reading Atlas Shrugged in one of Ahern's novels -- which prompted me to dig up the copies of that and The Fountainhead a friend gave me in college.

http://www.shorthandemptyhand.com/programs.htm It's the second one down, Be A Martialist. (Moderators, I hope I am not inappropriately plugging this; I am only posting the link in response to the query.) -
Self-help/self-improvement Books

I've written a self-help pamphlet myself that deals with assertive living. We live in a society increasingly cowed and passive; this, to me, is the most important problem that must be dealt with individually.
