  1. wonders if the claims are true : Could the London riots have been put down swiftly if the cops had responded quicker and with brutal force using tear gas, clubs or whatever. A bit of police brutality is sometimes a *good* thing...

  2. TOMORROW the new FB privacy setting "Instant Personalization", goes into effect. The new setting shares your DATA with non-FB sites & is automatically set to "ENABLED". Go to Account>Privacy Settings>Apps & Websites>Instant Personalization>edit settings & UNCHECK "Enable". By the way, IF YOUR FRIENDS DON'T DO THIS, they will be sharing info about you as well. So IF this concerns you copy and repost

  3. Sony can make a console that can play some of the most advanced games made in recent years - but not a browser for that console which is anything but brain-dead. The madness...

  4. Time is apparently an extremely confusing concept for most people. Even most / many Objectivists...got to say that modern physics confused notion of time is responsible for a lot of that.

  5. Playstation Network down for a few hours ( maybe 12 or so up to this date, I am not sure as I only noticed the outage a couple hours ago) and thousands of people panic that it has been hacked again. Come on people, dont you think its more likely Sony are simply doing maintenance ? Jumping to conclusions without context is really stupid..

  6. For those are that are confused : It IS possible that the "space" between entities out there in "Outer Space" has "areas' which are largely devoid of matter. It does not need to be filled with an aether or such. "Empty space" is a valid concept, it simply refers to regions which are largely devoid of matter and energy.

  7. There is still far too much confusion about Objectivists / students of O'sm when it comes to the philosophy of physics. I am more convinced than ever that *much* more needs to be presented / written on the matter. The mistakes I am often attempting to correct are often so *elementary* and *fundamental* that it clearly highlights a major lack of thinking in this area of philosophy...

  8. Life is a highway - though some people insist on going the wrong way.

  9. Science puns of the day : I wanted to make a clever chemistry joke. But the best ones argon. How many quantum physicists does it take to change a light bulb? Depends on whether you look at it.... How many experimental high energy physics graduate students does it take to change a light bulb. One, but it takes him/her ten years.

  10. Rationality is not as impossible as modern philosophy might tell you - it is simple. Open your eyes and accept that what you see is real and your wishes do not change it. Cavemen could do it, but apparently many modern philosophers cannot.

  11. Snow....in Auckland. First time in 30 years! Wowee...though it is not snowing where I am.

  12. it is so cold here that I think I just a polar bear just stole my heater and some blankets...

  13. Government business intervention : When you just cant screw your own business up badly enough on your own.

  14. it is "funny" how many "Objectivists" disagree over the proper conception of space, when it is fact a simple concept ( though perhaps less simple to reduce fully).

  15. "Making arguments ain't very smart or good, but a nice debate is. " - I will be honest and admit I got this from a SW forum ( Im a SW geek, I admit it)...but at least I am not that guy. Strange how it is always the stupid person that says this kind of stuff..;)

  16. is on his computer , connected to the internet via his Android. Fun stuff...

  17. astrology is a science ah? So believing that the relative positions of big balls of plasma billions of miles away has anything to tell us about our day to day lives is a science? Even though astrology proceeds by ignoring the fact that the stars aren't even where they claim they are anymore? Yeah..that sounds like science. *rolls eyes*

  18. When your ethics serves the "needs" of an imaginary entity ( the "collective"), there is no limit to the things which can be imagined that this entity needs. It is a black hole which consumes all morality.

  19. Is working on issue one of a web periodical on the "philosophy of science". Anyone got any subject/topic suggestions?

  20. The so called "Objectivist" trolls continue to attack me! I must be doing something right...

  21. thinks that Appeals to Ignorance are amongst the most annoying of logical fallacies. It proves / suggests that ones adversary has not even made an honest attempt to understand the facts.

  22. Oh boy, that one troll is persistent today! WeDontNeedHim ( some of you will recognize this as a clue as to the trolls identity)....

  23. Anyone here used G+ much yet? I am considering getting around to giving it more of a trail and I wondered if anyone here has any comments.

  24. Sitting on my bed while reading the Arch Linux Wiki and listening to music via the Qriocity music streaming service on my PS3. This is how a nerd relaxes. :)
